Anybody know the horsepower on a 1970 429 4v?

I am looking at a 1970 galaxie station wagon with a 429 4v motor in it that has the towing package with a c6. I cant find any horsepower numbers on them. Are these decent motors?

Advertised horsepower 360 @ 4600 rpm, advertised torque 476 ft lbs @ 2800 rpm, advertised compression ratio 11.0:1. Great motor but it will need the hard exhaust seats put in to run on todays fuel. Are you buying the car to drive it or just to get the motor? Like any of the old Ford motors, it will respond real well to improvements to cam, exhaust, and cylinder head upgrades. The lower ends were pretty tough.

Here's the specs for 69, I'd imagine 70 is real close.
360 bhp @ 4600 476 ftlbs @ 2800 with compression ratio of 11.0:1

It depends on the body condition. If I can get it looking new again, I would like to restore it, but beef up the motor. If the frame is rusted, I will be pulling the motor and building it for my 67 galaxie and put my 390 in the garage in case I want to put it back to original.

Thanks for finding the numbers for me. Sounds like a good base to start with.

I think I know the car you're talking about! I've looked at it online some myself (if it's green...)

These are excellent motors...I had the 2V version which is "only" 10.5:1 compression..I swapped on a stock 4V intake,750 holley and a set of headers and it was an absolute torque monster in a pickup truck.

That sounds great. I was hoping for a stump puller.

Unfortunately, its too far away for me to check out (I'm northwest, C-bus, its somewhere south of C-bus). I've just seen the pictures on Columbus craigslist, and it looked pretty cool. I figured around here, the engine would be picked up, and the car would go into a demo derby (I'd hate to see that, though).
