My guess that it's a 7 liter, as the badging, grill, wheel covers, pinstriping suggest, and not a 500.

It's a 7 litre no doubt about that really without knowing numbers and that stuff but also a Galaxie 500.
I'll have to email Tom, the guy who does the '66 registry and ask him about the interior packages. It might be that the 500 in the 7 litre version is a bucket seat car and the non 7 litre isn't. Although there is a '67 7 litre that is bench seat so I just don't know i'm so confused.
Where's that Richard, he probably knows also.

This one I know is all original and has bucket seats and is a Galaxie 500. Don't know about the seats but the 7 litre deal is just that, a special edition engine package deal. Which they might be the exception for the bucket seats. Although a person could order one without I'm sure just it was standard for the 7 litres.

It indeed could be a 500 and 7 Liter-that was the official designation-
The XL was also considered a Galaxie 500 in 1966, too. XLs and 7 Liters
had thier own unique body codes Galaxie 5006665 Galaxie 500 XL6869 Galaxie 500 7 Litre6163
This was the last
for it, in 1967 It was just the "Ford XL" The 7 Liter became a package on the XL.

I emailed Tom that does the '66 registry and here's his reply.

The 7-Litre was its own model and had all of the features of the XL (bucket seats) The 7-Litre came standard with the 428 and 7-Litre badging.

The Galaxie 500 came standard with the bench seat, Mileage Maker 6 cylinder and 3 on-the-tree.
He also mentioned the new 7 litre site which someone posted not long ago.
