1965 galaxie 500 rear end

does anyone know what rear end came in the 65 galaxie 500, and what the length is. my buddy told me i could have it i just got to get it from under the car. i need one for my 66 falcon. just wondering if it is worth the time and effort getting it. any help please.

If it is a general stock Gal 500 a 9" open rear with 3.00 gears. I would do some looking around on the web for measurements, they are out there. I dont think it is gonna be a bolt on for the falcon however. Different suspension (coils on the galaxie vs leaf springs for the falcon) and the galaxie rear will be longer. Snatch it up though, just to have one in surplus. If you want to be real sure, look under there and see if it has a tag. Get the numbers off of it. Also, the vin tag will have all those codes that will tell everything about the car (if it is all stock). Post those codes.

Measurement from the backing plate lip to lip is 55 1/4", that is the inner lip on the back, the rounded part at the very top.
