Hey mon Deb,
"The Streak"?

Sounds like the H/D box has been off there before at some point.
I have to say that it looked like maybe my father had been messing with it, but there's no way to know for sure. It was just obvious that it wasn't put back in the way it came from the factory.

Maybe someone forgot how that plate went back on there?
Wouldn't surprise me a bit.
Quote:
I had nothing left of the rubber parts of mine also. The flange and like a wire hoopish thing that held the end on the box.
There was none of that anywhere to be found. Can you say: "Greg Donahue, here I come!"?
Quote:
Maybe some of those L shaped screwdrivers will work?
I've got them, some stubbies, and some U-Joints. They'll come out one way or another.
Quote:
Or altered allen wrenches? Not an easy place to get to and probably more interesting getting them back up there again.
I was kind of thinking the same thing. BUT you know what? It was all so easy to get out. I have no reason to believe that it's going to be any different to put it back in. Attitude is everything. Acceptance is the key. I'm not in any kind of hurry to do this, and probably won't even attempt it till it is all worked out in my mind. Everything is knowable, and if one can "know" it, one can "do" it.

Anyway, hope you are well.

A song by Ray Stevens. At the beginning it's a breaking news announcement of a disturbance at the supermarket.

The video with ray.

This is a compilation someone did that is funny but sort of risque with tail views. lol. Those were the days. Still there are some out there streaking across the golf courses and socker fields though. I guess they got stuck in time. hahaha

Hey mon Deb,
All of this got past me when it was happening somehow, but it was pretty funny. Thanks for turning me on to it.

Reignbough Chase is the lead singer/guitar player in the band called "Spectral Pursuit" which is an ~~~AllisonWonderland~~~ (that's ME) production. The other two band members are M.Earle Lenns, and JC Messiah, jr.

All of them are aging hippies, and drive 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, Four-Door, Hard-Top, Fast-Back Police Interceptors.

Hope you are well.

Re: Interior Work on Ms. American 3.14159

Hey All,
Well, the line of thunderstorm that was supposed to mess up this Friday swept through the area this morning about 3:00 a.m. It's now just drizzling. Should clear by about noon.

Have the front seat back in the 3.14, and depending on how things go, will be taking the heater core to the Radiator Shop in Livingston this afternoon. BTW, the "wire" sized rod that releases the lock on the passenger-side seat rail was broken. Has to be replaced. And two of the zig-zaggedy "springs" under the drivers side of the front seat are broken, permitting the padding to sag. Those will have to be replaced.

Took the heater core out of the H/D Unit last evening, and by holding a thumb over one pipe, and drawing a vacuum on the other, it doesn't appear to be leaking anywhere. BUT it WAS leaking when I disconnected it back in the early 90s.

All of the insulation, and anti-rattle parts are toast (as expected), but the H/D unit is in remarkably good condition. It should clean up nicely.

Took the passenger side rear door hinge pillar cover off, and it should clean up nicely. It will take a bit of epoxy repairing of cracks, and it will be fine.

Looked under the carpet and insulation on the floor under the seat and rear foot wells and the pans there are brand new. Just like the day they left the factory. BTW, looked under the driver side rear foot well, and there's a little oval drain hole with a plate screwed over it. There's exactly the same oval drain hole on the passenger side, but there were NEVER any screws holding it down. It is BRAND new, and was held in place with the HEAVY rubber mats over which the carpet was installed.

There's amazing little rust from the front of the front seat back to the front of the back seat. There is was some surface rust under the back seat. And the front foot wells are toast.

The heavy rubber insulation mat that was on the floor under the back seat is going to refurb perfectly. All it need is to be "ironed" with a clothes Iron using a newspaper between the mat and the Iron. It will all flatten back down and then it will be cleaned, and siliconed. It will get reinstalled.

The cover that goes over the hole behind the back seat between the seat and trunk is going to take some work, but looks to be reusable for the most part.

Still haven't found any "build sheets" though.

Anyway, depending on how early the weather clears, will be getting the heater core fixed today or Monday. It may well be that it will have to be replaced. Either way, it will get done.

Time to go feed the felines.

Hope you all are well.

Re: Interior Work on Ms. American 3.14159

American Trim & Upholstery Supply - foam cushions & upholstery supplies sells those bendy springs I believe.

The mat under the camel hair stuff and carpet in the shotrod had splits in it where it layed over the "ridges" in the floor. I used that spray on rubber coating in layers over the cracks and filled them in. Worked great.

Making progress there JC. STill have more hidey places for a build sheet. You might find one some time later.

The one under the back seat was "scrunched" up in places. I brought it in and put it on a large, heavy piece of glass, then put newspaper on it, and used my Iron to heat it to where it was VERY pliable, and then put another piece of glass on top of the newpaper while the rubber mat was still hot, and then set a bag of kitty litter on it. when it cooled, it was once again flat.

BUT there ARE places where it is split.

What is this "rubber coating" stuff to which you are referring? Can it be gotten at Lowe's?

Have been cleaning the H/D Unit. It is coming out nicely. Have been also looking at the heater core. I'm not sure that the leak wasn't a "squirt past" the hose clamp.

The heater core holds vacuum and pressure without letting air in or out anywhere. It may be alright.

I'm still going to take it Monday to the radiator shop and have them test it anyway.

Will have to have the insulation and anti-rattle kit before it can be reinstalled in the H/D Unit body.

The little "derby hat" looking thingie on the firewall that covers the blower motor got stripped today and will get primed and painted Satin Black tomorrow. It is looking really good.

I'm still looking.

I'm going to be going to Lowe's tomorrow for more abrasive buffing wheels.

It's been a long day. I'm going to back off and take it easy for the rest of the evening.

Hope you are well.

You can get the rubber coating stuff at an autopart store or I suppose lowes. I'm not sure if I got mine at Autozone, walmart or Napa. Probably Napa just because I spent a lot of time there. lol It's in a spray can. I'll look at my pics as I think there is one with a pic of the can in it. There are several brands though.

I'd take the core in also, never know, might be rust is keeping it leak proof real well right now. Never know.

Deb

Hey mon Deb,
I'm sure I can find something. I'm going to be heading to Livingston this morning around 10:00 -10:30 a.m.

That is on the agenda for Monday. The radiator shop isn't open on Saturday.

The H/D Unit is cleaning up nicely. It's a STURDY unit, well built, well designed, and built like a brick pagoda!

Will be getting a number of packages of 1.44MB Diskettes on which the Sony Mavica digital camera records. And will be taking closeup JPGs of the detail work that is being done on the H/D Unit.

Will have some questions on specific things soon. I'm making a list.

Hope you are well.

Re: Interior Work on Ms. American 3.14159

I had to help one of the housing maintenance guys in CA out with his Mavica camera. First time I'd really seen one and he couldn't figure out how to get the pictures off it so had to show him.

I'm sure you found some rubber coating stuff. I think it is always with the bed liner type stuff and common.

Forgot I was going to show a before after. I'll do that in a bit.

Here it is JC.

My mat was kinda mangled so patched together what I had. It was an experiment and came out better than I thought it would at least.
