Hurst Shifter

I've got the 4-speed toploader and want to change out the shifter in the car. Where can I get the Hurst shifter for my application?

Part Number?

Re: Hurst Shifter

Mines in a 67 Galaxie. Do I need to order all new linkage or does it come with it? Or use factory?

Re: Hurst Shifter

Depending in what you want to do.....

This is what I just did with my '67

http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/gal...howdy-all.html

I used this shifter...(you cannot use the delivered handle as it will come out thru the side of the console, or space it over, but I think the handle would be too short)

Hurst 3916848 - Hurst Competition/Plus Shifters - summitracing.com

With this install kit...

Hurst 3733166 - Hurst Competition/Plus Shifter Installation Kits - summitracing.com

Or, if you want the Hurst I took out, it works fine, I just didn't care for the handle location. Hurst no longer makes this particular shifter and I didn't want to modify it. And it does fit the console opening. I have more pics if you are interested.

I will take $200 for the Hurst I took out.

Re: Hurst Shifter

When Hurst began delivering their shifters for Fords, they added a removable handle like on the earlier stuff. They may say Hurst on outside, but are completely different that what they sold over the counter at the speed shop. The Ford design is rather pricey, the Hurst version is not.

Be sure you know what the difference is before obtaining any replacement parts. For the Hurst link ends were cheaper (and closer) via a local speed shop, but wrong design too. I had to get mine via the dealership (on special order). They may look the same and read the same, but they are not the same.

Re: Hurst Shifter

The shifter I just removed is in fact a Hurst Competition Plus, and looks exactly like the brand new Hurst Competition Plus I just bought, with the exception of the new shifter having 2-bolts to remove the handle, and the one I took out of the car having a 1-peice handle that goes all the way into the shifter body. This is not the factory Ford shifter. That was in the car when I bought it, and I still have in a box in the garage.
