Re: Speaking of torque converter stall.....

Just googled it.... my bad... up to 69 Ford used a 24 spline input shaft with a diameter of .788. 1970 and later went to a 26 spline with a diameter of .839

I guess 66 got into my head as I have a 66 c4 up in my shed waiting for a rebuild.....

Not a C4, a Cruise-O-Matic.

Re: Speaking of torque converter stall.....

I believe all Ford automatics were called Cruise-O-Matic. C-4, cast iron case, or C-6. At least in 1966 I think that was the case.

Re: Speaking of torque converter stall.....

Mines the FX or MX type. Absolutely nothing to do with a C4 or C6. I guess I'll get the car up on stands tomorrow and see what numbers are on the ID plate. These things are confusing! Large case, small case, medium case, MX, FX, FMX!

Question Re: Speaking of torque converter stall.....

Ok, here's what I found. Case is iron (magnet sticks). Pan looks like the FX pan with the filler tube going in the side but, it has 14 bolts not 13. The case, minus the flange for the rear pump measures 9 7/8". The vacuum modulator is on the left rear. The tag reads:

PCD Z
352 4L 6B

What have I got?
Thanks for all your help!
