holley carb question

On my 62 galaxie 390 9.6 to1 comp crane 901 cam fpa long tube headers im having a problem with a bog on accelaration from a stop. The acell pump cam is amber and its in the no1 hole. I have a holley 600 cfm 1850 list carb. This is a man choke model with the choke not hooked up. When i look down the carb and work the throttle i dont see any fuel but yet i can hit the pedal when on the road and it takes off so i know the acell pump is working. Also when the pedal is all the way to the floor the throttle blades arent at 90 degrees to vertical there more like 75 degrees. Is this right? Thanks

Re: holley carb question

not enough pull on the cables could be an issue of throttle cable location.

Slight bog is likely Acc pump adjustment.

As far as the throttle blade angle, you need to adjust your throttle rod to the carb. I had the same problem when I swapped out my Autolite for a 625 cfm Road Demon with a custom throttle rod. I had to have my wife sit in the car with her foot on the pedal to the floor so I could adjust the lever. Regarding the choke, I hope you at least have the choke plate either removed or wired fully open? You should see fuel shoot out when you work the linkage. Not sure what to tell you about that.

Slight bog from idle could mean you need to advance the timing a little bit.

The accelerator pump needs to be adjusted correctly, especially with an inoperative choke.
