Re: 17x8's on 64 galaxie

There is a very nice 63 running around my small town outside of Pittsburgh, he is running the late model mustang bulliets. Just need spacers. Just for ****s and giggles, i put one of my 18x9 from my 2000 GT on the front of my car.... Actualy looked good! I put my 18x10.5 on the rear of a 59 500........that looked GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im one for the stock look but I might go with some 17" Mach wheels on my 66?

If I can do it, you can do it... click over to the Falcon pages, I posted some pics. It took a couple tries, but the right wheel spacers and longer studs and BAM! Those 17x8" Bullitt wheels look awesome on old Fords!!!

In my opinion.............yep. 17's look good on trucks and SUV's but some things just cant be improved on. 15x10's look way cool on those cars depending on what type and design of wheels you go with. Ive never been real nuts about "the more wheel than tire look" makes the car look retarded.

Your one of those guys.

17's were big in 1995. We started running 20's by 1998. So big wheels are not anything new. Most stock trucks run 20's w/most stock cars on 17's.

I do custom suspension for over 15 years, and I get guys that want to run wheels that do look retarded, and I refuse to do the work. As long as the wheels "fit" the wheel opening with the correct size of tires it's all ok, and by todays standards 17" are not big at all.

Everyone has their opinion. I think pro-street is retarded, and a complete waste of a car, and it should be a crime.

Not at all, as long as they are on a truck or SUV, I'm with forddude on this one, just guess I was thinking out loud. Yeah, I'm one of THOSE GUYS.....YOU can put on YOUR car anything YOU like and that's all that matters. Like you said, the big azz wheels got popular in 1995, hell that's only THIRTY FRIGGIN YEARS AFTER THIS CAR HIT THE ROAD, it just seems out of wack to me, putting big azz wheels on a 60s car is like putting a set of Crager S/S on an otherwise stock Model A, but I'm pretty thick headed at times so pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Just don't be insulted and surprised when you pull into a show or a cruise night and they make you park over with the ricers.

P.S. Why stop there, you can really slam it so that when you run over a golf ball sized stone in the road you can take out your oil pan, that's so neat. Or better yet you can put a grand finishing touch on them big azz wheels by installing those spinners that keep going around when the car stops...them things are waaaaay cool. I'm not trying to start a war here, I'm off my meds and trying to have a little fun with this.
