Hey mon Deb,
In this day and age, 57 is middle age. You mentioned that she was receiving disability. What was THAT for?

Her dad had an embolism in his 50s and guess her mom had brain surgery and died at a fairly young age also.

An embolism is a blockage of some sort (sometimes an air bubble) in the blood stream.

To just go gently in one's sleep is probably the best for which one can hope.
As you may or may not remember, I was told on December 1, 1998: "You had better get your affairs in order, for you have only about five months to live.". This coming December, it will have been a decade ago.
When I didn't die in five months, one of the MDeities (medical personnel) remarked "Apparently you aren't finished here yet!".
So I came home and made a list of all the things that I needed to do. At the rate at which I'm getting them done, if I can't go till I'm finished, I may live forever.
Tbirdchick may just have been finished here, and it was time to move on to a new assignment.
The best plan is to live well.
