Re: Exhaust and your Galaxie
FPA tri-y headers
2.25" tubing
h-pipe
Vortex mufflers, by Cherry Bomb
resonators aka: glass packs
18" balognie cut chrome tips
Couldn't hear myself think before the installing the glass packs. The car speakers have thanked me numerous times too.
I too, would like more information on the F.I. installation on an FE. That would be cool.
Don't feel bad about being one of the youngest on here. I used to feel like that at times...before you joined and I am 39. Lots of great information and advice from all age groups. Where else can you find people of all ages that have a passion for the same thing...excluding church.

Re: Exhaust and your Galaxie
Does anyone know of equal length headers for a 460 in a 64 Galaxie? I have Crites Restoration headers now but they are unequal length.
This is for a Drag Car.
My street car has Hooker Competition headers on a 390 with 2 1/4 pipe all the way back with straight though Cherry Bombs and chrome trumpet tips. Sounds great.
I'm switching to 2 1/2 to help the ported heads and bigger cam breathe a little better.
With 3:50 gears I was getting 20mpg highway. With 3:73's I get about 14.
There is an article on Mustangs and Fords Magazine.Com about sequential fuel injection. The guy figures he will get 32mpg out of a 390 600HP '67 Mustang with 3:50 gears. Cost is something like $2800.00 for the kit.
Hilborn had a nice electronic injection system with the organ pipes for a nice A/FX look.

I used a Mass Flow Fuel Injection system for the FE. Mass-Flo Fuel Injection Systems
Not the cheapest way to go (to say the least) but it was simple to install and worked right out of the box. Chris at Mass Flow is a good guy and helped on the phone when I ran into snags here and there. The computer comes programed for the horse power range you are shooting for and the injectors are sized to match. If you build a bigger engine they can reprogram your computer and upgrade your injectors as needed. I really like how the system looks and performs.
If you need more info about this FI system, let me know.

Re: Exhaust and your Galaxie
Don't have a Galaxie anymore, but when I did it had two configurations.
When it was a 390/4 speed I had Hooker Super Comp headers, dual pipes, 12 inch glass packs, and 4 inch diameter, 24 inch long chrome tips that came out under the rear bumper.
When the car became 460/C6 powered it had cast manifolds with cleanup work going into 3 inch pipes with 2 chamber original Flowmaster race mufflers that dumped in front of the rear axle.

I hear ya on the loud part. My 64 started out 2.5" H pipe 427 headers and Flowmaster 1 chambers. It was louder than my low 11 second Mustang 5.0 with open headers.
