64 sheet metal

Helping a friend work on his 64 2dr and it has a lot of rot in the back window and upper trunk drip rail.
Does anyone have a parts car they would be interest in cutting this section (inside both factory quarter seams) out off, or any good ideas. We do not want to put a bunch of little patches in.

Re: 64 sheet metal

I'm going to a car show in Portland, Oregon area Saturday. I almost always get at least one note or card saying someone has parts or a parts car for sale tossed in the seat or under the wiper. If I get one I'll pass the info on to you and maybe they would be willing to cut off the pieces you need and send them.

Re: 64 sheet metal

Thats what we are hoping for. Would be easy to tape to a 12" piece of plywood and ship. Just need to find it.
We do not know if any other models will work. As far as we know its one year only part.
Would love to replace his tail panel also but thats going to be just as hard to find and most of it will be covered by trim in the bad areas.

Re: 64 sheet metal

That sometimes is the nice part about those trim peices across the back. Never know there were patches there unless you saw inside the trunk!

I'll let ya know if I get any. I have most of the parts I need except a rocker panel but with the side all caved in people don't know that. Guess i could call that one of the bright sides, the parts come to me in a way. Although I don't need them myself.

If I'd known or remembered sooner I could of gotten the rocker panel from Dearborn and picked it up at the show. Save on that $75 oversize shipping fee!

I think the part is like $45 or was last time I looked but it's been a while.

Decided to check it out and the oversize is now $46. The part is $50. I could of sworn it used to be $75. Maybe I need to check out my old catalogs.

Re: 64 sheet metal

I got a 64 Parts car

What's it worth to get it cut off and shipped out to you if mine is still good?

Re: 64 sheet metal

FE, Well it worth the the time saved for me to weld up the holes in HIS car. Not sure what he will pay but he does want it done right the first time. Him and I used to restore Mustangs together and we have seen people do the same repairs twice (they should have come to us first). PM me and we can discuss a price and some pictures if you can get them to me. I do not have any pictures of his right now but I can get some this weekend.
Hope it does not change anything but his car does have a SERIOUS tube. We are not restoring this car back to original.

Re: 64 sheet metal

At present I am not in the neighborhood to check it out and nobody will be back to the car until after the 25th of this month...

PM me first and I'll follow up in 3 weeks, unless it's that urgent.

Good luck!

Re: 64 sheet metal

I will check my car against his but we still have the problem with the inside of the window area and that is the worst part(upper left and lower right pictures).
