Re: 352 smoking

maybe they didn't get something right.
Did you install the engine or did they? Was wondering if the pcv setup wasn't hooked up correctly. Not sure if that would cause smoking or even smoking from just one side.
Valve seal? Rings not seating properly? You could try some STP or something of that nature and see if it stops the smoking. Check your plugs on that side to see if any are oily so you know which cylinder it is.

That's just some ideas. Someone here might have better ideas of things to check.

Have you called the shop that rebuilt it and asked them? That would be the first thing i would do since they rebuilt it and it doesn't have many miles.

Re: 352 smoking

I called the guy and he won't help. I had some trouble with him during and after he finished the motor. I will check the plugs for oil. Thanks

Does it have a pcv on it or a road draft system? My 352 has blow by that pours out the side of the car from the road draft tube when i am at a light or so. It is all original though.

Re: 352 smoking

sounds like a broken piston ring-- --or one that didnt seat well--

take off oil fill cover -- does smoke come out where you put in oil??--

Re: 352 smoking

I had one side smoking and it turned out to be a bad float in the carb. Fuel was spilling out into one side of the manifold.

Black smoke = fuel. White smoke = steam/water Blue smoke = oil

Re: 352 smoking

Who built it? Some people dont double check ****. I have a friend that had a motor put togheter and the rings where to big. Over heated and broke some rings.

Maybe a ring or a wrist pin let go and is tearing up a cylinder?
