1966 Galaxie Springs
So, some of you saw my 59,60,and 64 Fords..... I like to keep them looking stock. I have this 66 Galaxie vert that is kida rough but has no rust. The car has a black top and black int. There is a ton of crap paint on the car. I would need to strip the paint blast it then paint it. I want to drive it and not have a show car. With that being said, I am thinking flat black for the summer and 17" Bullit wheels gloss black. The car already has the wheels but they are grey.
My question is, who make a decent lowering spring? I know cutting them on the 5.0 Mustangs is really ghetto but I might get away with that on this car .
What do you think?

Re: 1966 Galaxie Springs
How low do you think this is? My 66 hard top (parting out) and the vert both sit much higer.

Call Coil Spring Specialties in KS. They will wind you a new set of springs to your specifications and you cannot beat their prices.
As for how much to lower your car, this would be your preference based on some research. What I can offer you is a recommendation on spring rates. These heavy Gals like no less than 550 lb for the fronts and the rears 250 lb. A good set of shocks should be used in this combination.

I wouldnt go bigger than 16's. Saw a '66 a while back at a show in Chickasha, Oklahoma with 20x10's, slammed. It looked like CRAP! I just dont think the '66 LTD/Galaxie looks good lowered and those big, wide wheels just made it look retarded but.......thats my opinion. But everyone has their own definition of whats cool and.....what sucks.

I kind of agree..... I had the car out today, and wow, it had alot of looks! I was in my driveway with a 63 split window vet and the 66 was getting more stops than the vet....... Im not sure what to do!

Well, to be honest, if I had driven by, the Vette probably wouldnt have caught my attention at all. Your car would have but I would have driven right on by a Vette. Call me funny but Vettes never, ever really impressed me. Now, you could have a 1950 + Ford junker parked out front with a gob of bailing wire hanging from under it and the fenders falling off and I would have at least slowed down. As far as what to do, my advice...........Build it! Build it to your own vision and your own impression of what "cool" is and anyone who doesnt like it can lump it. After all, you are the one that will be paying for the parts and you will be the one who has to drive it!

Re: 1966 Galaxie Springs
Not to mention they knew what the vette is but just what is that other car? That's the nice thing bout gals, half or more of the younger generation don't have a clue what they are if they aren't vette or mustang.
I agree with the others, the wheels too big just dont' look right. But I'm old and alot of this stuff doesn't look right and I have no room to talk with my green drums and engine. LOL
Do it how you like it!
