What's this 7.0L Galaxie worth
Can anyone give me a ballpark of what a 7.0L Galaxie with following description would be worth
Interior in good shape. Bucket seats/console. Carpet good shape. Seats good shape, no tears. Dash needs a bit of work
Needs paint - some body work (rust in wheel well lip and crease/dent on roof, like someone put a kid up on the roof or something).
Floor pans appear good. Trunk pan soft and needs replacing
Needs new fuel tank/fuel lines.
Has what appears to be original 428 C-6 auto transmission
Front disc brakes
Badges in good shape. Bumpers need rechroming.
Overall probably needs a good restoration but the interior is 90% done.
Im thinking about buying it, but don't want to insult the guy with my offer
Mike

Yeah, I shoulda brought the camera, but forgot. Shame on me.
Space-Invader.. this one is in a lot rougher shape than yours. If you paid $10,800, that gives me some ideas on what this one should be worth.
Thanks

Re: What's this 7.0L Galaxie worth
If you ended up buying that 7-Litre, please log on to the 7-Litre website and submit your car to the registry and include a picture for the photos page.
It is also a good source for info on this "Breed " of car
The site can be found at :

Re: What's this 7.0L Galaxie worth
So you want to know what your 7L 66 Galaxie is worth after listing the OBVIOUS things that are wrong with it....
Take it as an insult or whatever, but for a car needing what sounds like about $12,000 worth of work to make it whole and runnable again I'd say n omore than $3,000.
Not that you'd catch me paying $3,000 for ANY damn car that's needing THAT much work, but you probably get my drift...
The registry say's there's only 569 left in the world, maybe you got something "Special" but to me it's still just a 66 Gal, nothing super duper or anything...
But even if it were a 63 Gal I'd still say no more than $2,500 $3,000 for a car that's in that bad of shape...

Re: What's this 7.0L Galaxie worth
I knew someone that sold theirs for I think it was $5000 or $6000, needed a front bumper but overall just minor stuff. So guess it all depends on who's selling and if they want to get rich or something.

Re: What's this 7.0L Galaxie worth
I just saw this one on a galaxie list for sale. Not sure if it will help you decide on what to offer but it is a price to look at.
It's a project. It needs a complete body off restoration, but it IS a complete 67 XL Vert with the 7Liter option with 4 speed. A 67 7 Liter Vert is One with a 4 speed is even rarer.
$7500/OBO
Not to mention with no pics it doesn't help much with this ad. Also what needs complete restoration to one doesn't need but a little fixing up to another.

Re: What's this 7.0L Galaxie worth
a rust free, documented, '66 Galaxie 7liter is a rare car. Other than find one in a junk yard or taking advantage of some derelict that is looking for drink, drugs or posting bail to get out of jail - the car should be worth 1,500 to 2,000 if its drivable and not missing too many of the 7 liter parts.
Its far from 'just another 66 Galaxie, even back in the day they were something special; besides the motor which gave them the name, they came with disc brakes, special badging, a 9 3/8 rear gear, a diecast grill instead of the standard stamped aluminum one on all the other models. Granted, the engine wasn't a 427, but it was big enough, different enough to add value to the package. Different part of the country widely vary in pricing old iron.
I would agree that I wouldn't be insulted if offered 2,000 - 4,000 as a starting point - it would have to be something specia, for me to go much higher. the point that is more important is whether he is trying to sell or you are trying to buy, that makes all the difference.
What works against a higher price is the 65's - 66's just haven't caught on, yet! They are picking up speed as people are priced out of the more popular 63 - 64. As always, bigger motors, special equipment, suspension add to the value no matter what model you are looking at. Don't let 'bargain hunting blind you to a chance at a true collectable. Hate to hear in 5 - 10 years time the often repeated lament ... I coulda' bought a ________ for $X.00, but just didn't see the value in it at the time. seems to happen at least once a month on these pages.
