66 Galaxie Top Sagging

I am new to Galaxie convertables.... I have had a Mustang 5.0 convertable but never a Galaxie vert. So...... I have a sag in the middle (about the middle of the front windows). What can I do to fix this?

Also, I fixed some of the rear bars what move when the top goes down. I used bolts as aposed to factory rivits. The bolts get hung up from the size, where can I get rivits for the top?

Thanks!

Re: 66 Galaxie Top Sagging

Have a friend with a '67 that had that sag in the same place and can't remember what he adjusted to fix it. Seems like it was an adjustment to the rear corner. If someone here doesn't have the answer i'll get hold of him and find out. It was something real simple to fix.

Re: 66 Galaxie Top Sagging

I just looked through my book on adjusting the top and I believe the adjustment you need to make is under the top of the "door" panel where the rear quarter window is. You need to remove the panel and you'll see the bolts there for adjusting.

I'll scan the photo as soon as I get the scanner going. I just now installed it finally and going to try rebooting and see if that does the trick. If not it's going to be fighting the dog to get under the computer desk and check wires again. LOL

The rear quarter window is adjustable also if it isn't correct. While you are in there if it needs adjusting.

Re: 66 Galaxie Top Sagging

I got hold of Cliff and he said there is a hex head screw on top of the railing near where it is sagging. You use it to adjust that sag out of there. It's been a while since he did his but I'm thinking that you might loosen it then pull it up where you need it and retighten it. But never know, it might be turn one way or the other depending on if you want it to sag more or sag less.
