Deb, Keep us posted on your progress.

JC, wouldn't have been a hell of alot simpler to just use a cherry picker. That's a nice bridge you built, but alot of time and effort. Don't know what you spent on it but a cheap cherry picker is less than a $100.

Cost him nothing... He had everything and I think even the paint just laying around waiting to be used...

Re: Ms. American 3.14159 Engine Bay Bridge

Yep think he recycled!

I spent a long day in ER again today and have writing on my leg so that if the redness goes beyond that then get back in there and they'll admit me.

Also had a ultrasound to check for a blood clot and have to go in 3 days for another one cause they couldn't see about 4 inches of my vein so if there is a clot it should be moved by then. The ultra sound guy said it looked more like an infection to him but who knows. Got more antibiotics, pretty green ones this time so these might be the magic bullets. They are my color at least.

The nurse girl was an old car person too. Not fords but pontiac but heck, a girl that likes any car is ok with me! She lost her Firebird in divorce darn it but has her eye on a 67 or 68 GTO.

JC, as I was deleting all those health posts I noticed you threatened to come over here if I didn't go in. Well I could say I didn't and then I could meet the one and only JC of Tex-as huh? Like Doc to Kirk but different words. She didn't go Jim!

I'll keep ya all posted.

Hey 63F,
It probably would have. BUT (and I've really gotten deep into this), it's like I explained to Mr. DH when I first found this WONDERMUS bunch of people all gathered around our Galaxies, and he thought that I was doing everything the "HARD" way (reinventing the wheel): I'm doing this in my retirement as a HOBBY, and that has given me a whole other perspective on the doing of everything.

Thanks for the compliment. I thought it turned out nicely too.

EGGZACTLY! I live here alone (except for my fourteen cats), and I'm on medication to suppress a TOO strong immune system which has decided that my liver is our enemy, and in order to save ME, it's got to KILL my liver...

I don't have visitors because with a suppressed immune system, if I catch a cold, or the flu, I'm DEAD!

I don't go anywhere (except every other month I go sit in a room full of sick people at a laboratory in Houston for a blood test, per the MDeitie's instructions (go figure)). I don't go to movies, shows, concerts, games, etc., and so I have all this time on my hands. And so the more time I spend on stuff, the better (for me). Like for most people when something doesn't go well, it's a real "funk producer". For me, it's a JOY, in that I get to do MORE of what I'm having a blast doing!

I already had almost all the stuff with which to build it.

The two 5'-0" square tube pieces were left over from a metal building that a neighbor had built.

The caster-wheeled bases were from an old equipment truck left over from my "long since passed" touring concert days. The 2 X 4s and 1 X 4s were left over from building "The Kitty Kastle".

http://www.livingston.net/allison1/kkorral1.htm
http://www.livingston.net/allison1/kkorral2.htm

I had most of the metal screws, angle iron, metal tubing, and the only things that I actually purchased were the carriage bolts, wing nuts, bolts, and nuts, a total cost of about $10.00.

I also had the paint, sheet-metal, and screws with which the wood "I" beams and bracing are held together.

Have you ever heard of "Bricolage"? Have you ever heard of "Bric-a-brac"? Brick-a-brac is decorating with whatever you have at hand. Bricolage is building something with whatever you have at hand with which to build.

The Engine Bay Bridge is a bricolage project.

I have gotten kind of a reputation for doing such, and I have some friends for whom I do drawings, and advertising, who are in the building, handiman, fix-em-up businesses. And when they tear something out, and haul it off, the first thing they do is bring the loaded trailer over by my place, and let me to pick through the trash to find stuff with which I can do various projects. That's the way I built my entire Paver Garden and Deck.

http://www.livingston.net/allison1/drainpro.htm
http://www.livingston.net/allison1/deck.htm

Anyway, today for me is going to be a BIG marathon ordeal. I get to take my life in my hands and go out to take care of the business of getting medication, paying bills, obtaining stuff with which to live.

I'll be getting a carburetor rebuild kit, with which I am going to rebuild the Holley 1920 that is on Lorrie Van Haul

1967 Dodge Mail Van

Well, I see that it's about time to get myself together, to go "live dangerously". It's hazardous work, but someone HAS to do it!

Hope you are well. AND thanks for "worrying" about me. BUT I'm fine. No, HONEST!!!

Re: Ms. American 3.14159 Engine Bay Bridge

JC, fantastic work my friend!

I even saw Lorrie adn Mrs. Pie in a couple of the deck pics

I might have a carburetor manual for Lorrie's carb. I will go through my stuff when I get home and let you know.

THis is a Carburetor rebuild shop manual not a little thing you get with teh kit. This is a 'tell all' about your carb. I picked up a LOT of carb build books yesterday from a lady who's hubby ised to rebuild carbs for a living.

Later, FE

Thanks for the kind words.

They both get to live near the Paver Garden. Now that I'm working on getting Lorrie back up and running, I sit on her step facing the PG, and that's where I do most of what I'm doing with her. Nice environment. Lots of lizards, frogs, and birds amidst and amongst the plants. The shade from the Weeping Willow Tree and the West side of the house is cool till about 12:30 p.m., but then the air get just too hot and humid to be outdoors.

GREAT!!! I picked up the rebuild kit this morning. Cutest little bunch of gaskets, and such that you EVER did see.

How did you wrangle THAT?

Well, I have a bunch of things to report. I got the Alternator Bracket for Lorrie back from the welding shop. THAT bracket is one of two weak parts on the 225 Slant-Six (the other being the Exhaust Manifold). Some years ago, one of the ears started to crack off of the Alternator Bracket, and so I had it welded so that it became the strongest part of the bracket. Well, I pulled it off the engine recently, and found a hair line crack. SO I had another piece welded on the back of it. It should NOW be strong enough to NOT be a problem.

I have two alternators for Lorrie, and had them both checked at the AutoZone in Livingston. They both passed the test.

Also, I went to the Post Office, and lo, and behold, my Economic Stimulus Check was in. I hate to take free money from the government, but it's my patriotic duty to do so. Murff knows that I'd NEVER want to be unpatriotic.

Anyway, as you have noticed, there have been unexplained gaps in my posting recently, and I can finally tell you why. I've been compiling a COMPLETE list of inter-changable parts for ALL of Ford's various engine types.

How, you may ask, have I done this?

Well, it started by filing a tax return, then waiting for the money to come in, then going to AutoZone and buying a book called: "HIGH PERFORMANCE FORD ENGINE PARTS INTERCHANGE"

Fabulous book. ALMOST everything you ever wanted to know about Ford engine parts. Not quite TOTALLY detailed (like it didn't mention that the '64 Police Interceptor engine had Gold Thunderbird Valve Covers), but it has some info that I'll bet if I went through and picked out the more obscure ones, that NO ONE would know the answer to.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to be doing some dressing of the welds on Lorrie's Alternator Bracket, then priming, and painting it.

Then will come the rebuild of Lorrie's Holley 1920 carburetor. First I'm going to take a whole series of JPGs of the front, sides, back, top, bottom, and 2/3 views, so that I'll make sure it goes back together right. Then it comes apart, and gets soaked in Berryman's.

I'm getting awfully close to starting reassembly of Lorrie. Once she is up and running, THEN, all that's left is to rebuild the brakes (Master Cylinder, Wheel Cylinders, and new brake hoses), and Lorrie will be fully AWAKE, and ready to be detailed. I should have her done by the end of Summer, and THEN comes the work on the Ms.Pi using the Engine Bay Bridge.

Gary, I couldn't be having more fun. No, HONEST.

BTW, if you enjoyed the Paver Garden, Deck, and Kitty Korral JPGs, you might like to look at the other projects that I've done here. Therapy Tub, Bay Window, Laundramat, , Sound/Music Studio, Sacred Bundt Pan Pendants, my other home in Acapulco, The AllisonWondercats, The China Berry Trees, some writing to UseNet Newsgroups, and the GREAT Sewer Connection Caper. Just click here:

AllisonWonderland

Then click on each of the titles, and that'll give you the webpages.

Hope this finds YOU doing well, my friend.

Hey Gary,
And most all of that was done when I was over 60 years old, and fighting this damned liver issue!

If I HADN'T been up&doing, it wouldn't have been long before I COULDN'T be up&doing.

I've got some little detail stuff to do to the Alternator Bracket for Lorrie, and then it's on to the Holley 1920 rebuild. Let me know what you find. And thanks for taking the time to do this.

Hope you are well.
