Cragars on the 64

I got the Cragar s/s rims on the 64. I put 14s on the front and 15s on the back. here are the pictures.

Now I need to take them off and paint the drums to match the car.

Re: Cragars on the 64

Sometimes it takes a bit. There were cragars on the Shotrod at one time in it's past. Then 2 of some other wheel that was similar but they were off a GM so there were adaptors to Ford. It has had lot of different shoes in it's lifetime. Yours probably has also and if not there's still time.

I like the Cragars though, think they look great.

It's hard to find a Ford that doesn't look good wearing Cragar S/S's. Now it looks like proper Street/Strip cruiser. That wood steering wheel is "da bomb"!

Re: Cragars on the 64

Pasvorto - Your car looks great! I've got Cragar's on my '63 as well, although I've had to replace the front with 15" stock rims so that the new disk brakes fit... I'm fixin' to get some new rims all around sometime soon. I'll probably try and match the Cragar's look at 16".

One quick question for you - how did the steering wheel conversion go for you? I've posted here before about the problems I'm having with my turn signal cancel cam (nothing hitting it, so I'm constantly driving around with my signal on). Does your new steering wheel work with the stock turn signal switch and cancel cam?

The Cragers look nice I have 15's front and rear because of the disk brakes.

Re: Cragars on the 64

The steering wheel replacement was not too bad, once I got a puller. The turn signal cam in mine was trashed before. Still is. I try to remember to turn it off. However, since I'm old it's OK to drive for miles with my blinker on.

The only problem I experienced was the wire for the horn button wore through in a couple days and caused to horn to go off every time I touched the sterring wheel. I discovered that early one Sunday morning. I'm sure the neighbors will talk to me again soon. The wire wound up breaking opff, so I have no horn now. Oh well, I will just scream at the idiots.

The wood wheel feels a whole lot better than the "bus" wheel that was on it originally.

Re: Cragars on the 64

Pasvorto - Thanks for the info on your steering wheel. I'll have to look into one soon.

I don't know if you've seen the thread that I just started, but I'm trying to replace the worn air shocks on my '63. You mentioned that you put a set of Monroe Air-Max MA 709's on your '64... According to the guy at Monroe these shocks fit a Granada, but he has nothing on '62 - '64 Galaxies. Where did you get your shocks installed and how did they determine the correct model number?
