Re: 1964 R-code 1173 miles

I guess what I meen is, if it had to or needed to be restored, and nothing is worng with restoring a car, then that for the most part takes the 1,100 miles being a "plus" out of play with its value, but a untouched 1,100 mile car in 1,100 mile condition, we all know what that would be valued at. I've always been the type that once the car is 20 plus years old, the milage means nothing anymore because rather its low or high it still needs alot of mech work done to it unless its been on jack stands in a climate controled garage..lol can't tell ya how many times people have looked at my cars and said "man thats nice, how many miles are on it" and I repley, don't know and don't really care...lol. Its a sharp ride, love the red/red

Hey Gary,
Have you ever heard of the way to shop for a used car is to click on all the buttons on the radio. If they are all tuned to hard rock stations it probably needs a transmission! I heard that from a used car salesman who says that before they put a car on the lot, they set all the buttons to classical, talk, and soft jazz stations.

Well, I'm off to get the RIGHT rebuild kit for the Holley 1920. I'm taking all the parts that were not right in the previous rebuild kit to do the comparison. Wish me LUCK!

Hope you are well.

Hey Gary,
MANNNNNNN!!!! When you wish luck, you really do it up with a big bow tie!!!!!!!

Got to the auto parts store, and got the RIGHT kit. I could see the RIGHT Accelerator Pump Diaphragm through the cellophane.

Got the kit home, and opened it up, and would you believe that there was ANOTHER duplicate Accelerator Pump Diaphragm in the kit?

The other kit only had only ONE Accelerator Pump Diaphragm, and it was the WRONG one.

This one had TWO Accelerator Pump Diaphragms and both of them are the RIGHT one.

Go figure!

Already this morning, I got the Alternator Bracket, and the Starter reinstalled on Lorrie. Am going to be reinstalling the Valve Cover, Oil Filler Cap, and PCV. I need to get eight new lock washers, and paint the heads of the bolts that hold the Valve Cover in place. Need to use the Gasket Adhesive to hold the VC Gasket in place, and it should take all of 10 minutes to do the reinstallation.

Anyway, it's too hot to do anything more outside. So the rest of the day is going to take place inside.

Am going to be detailing the Holley 1920 Body, and interior parts.

Then it all goes back into the Berryman's ChemDip over night, and tomorrow morning, I'll be going to the LawnMowerShop to use Berryman's ChemTool 12 and their compressed air to make sure the passages are clear.

I've run into a slight problem in that the Choke Plate Shaft needs a bushing in the hole where the CP Shaft goes through the Body. I think I can make one out of a piece of copper tubing. Will cut it to proper length, then split it and remove some of the tubing to squash it down to where it will fit into the hole, then grind it out till the shaft fits, and VOILA'!!!

Anyway, thanks for the double LUCK!!!

Hope you are well.

That's what the original owner of the Shotrod asked me. But no original engine anymore and I am not positive on the miles anyway. No speedo for a little while and pretty sure it rolled over once. And it needs work all way round. I keep it on the road but to go in and do all it needs would probably take a while. Then again maybe not. Heck I don't know. LOL

As much as I love 64s there is only one out there worth that kind of money! Mine! But only to me it is priceless. hahaha

JC, maybe that's why it's FEandGoingBroke. All the luck goes to others he wishes it too and he just keeps going in the hole. LOL

Glad to hear you got so lucky on the kit!

Deb

Hey mon Deb,
Maybe if we all wished GARY some "good luck", that all that "hole going" would come to a screeching halt. Whaddaya think?

BTW, someone said that: "Success is a combination of hard work and luck. BUT that the harder one works, the luckier one gets!"

I've also noticed that LUCK is connected to the "Quote Button"! HAHAHAHHAAA!

It's just kind of magical.

Got all the bolts for Lorrie's Valve Cover painted with Plasticote High-Heat Low-Gloss Black, went to my washer can and got eight BRIGHT&SHINY lock washers, and got the Valve Cover Gasket adhered to the Valve Cover. Tomorrow it all get put back on. There's then some paint touch up on the engine that will be necessary.

Then it's off to the LawnMowerShop to use their compressed air to clean out the passages on the Holley 1920 which is at this very self-same moment soaking in the Berryman's ChemDip.

Anyway, here's my GOOD LUCK WISH for Gary! And don't forget to use the "Quote Button"!

Hope you are well.

Yeah! I don't like no stinkin' quotes

Thanks for the good luck wish back. I'm painting the black parts of the 75 FJ40 and don't want to run into any troubles if you get my drift....

Glad you got the correct kit.

I believe that another version of the Mod. 1920 (auto/standard) had another daiphragm on the body that acted as a dashpot, and it used the same style diaphragm... Thus you have two just in case

Hey Mr. DH,
Alright. But I use the quote button, and I got TWO accelerator pumps! I rest my case.
