Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
$170-$200 for one for my 65, and they caution for the customer to check for hood clearance. I need opinions and if any 65 owners have them, which did you choose out of the two that supposedly fit? What are the advantages of this battery that it is so much?

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
I can not speak for the 65, but I have one in the trunk of my 62. I was very impressed at how much faster the motor cranked when I installed it

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
They dont leak acid ,dont corrode the terminals or the wire, they last way longer than any lead acid batt i ever had, they charge up from dead in half the time( should you forget and leave your lights on), and hell they look cool.
Yes they are worth the money. The one i have in my ranger is near 6 years old.
As with any electronic compnent there is the risk of a bad one. Ive had many bad NEW batteries from pep boys, kragen, cheif auto, and auto zone. havent had a bad optima of course ive only had to buy 2 so far in 6 years. One for my Pinto,(went into my ranger to keep it cycling ) and one for my wifes Focus.

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
Did you all go with the deep cycle/starting type (yellow top) or just the starting type (red top)? What is better to get for what reason? The deep cycle type is $30.00 more. Is the deep cycle type better for ignition performance. Ive read a bit about it, but dont quite understand it all yet.

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
I have ran them for years. They don't like to sit for awhile. As long as you drive your car all the time you will be ok.
If you have a Costco by you they have the lowest prices of any place I have seen.

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
I have a red top in the stang for 6 years now. Before that time the same battery was in a dirt late model for 3 years. It sits all through the winter without being charged or ran and NEVER loses a charge. No problems what so ever, tests at capacity every spring.

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
I think mine is just the standard, but the top is black not red or yellow. I got it from my local parts house for about $170.00 after rebates

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
I bought one (red top) for my Mustang six years ago, it's in the trunk. Never a problem. Costco is by far the best value as the other poster said! Had one in my 62 Galaxie, again good product no maintenance. Neil

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
Well, through a little research and shopping around, I got a red top down to $114 with discounts and rebates. Seems good I guess seeing that a die-hard would be about that and they dont have near the good rep.

Re: Optima batteries, are they all THAT?
Goodbye Rusty corroded trays and cables!!!!!
Way good deal. My Red top 75/25 was around 130 6 years ago. Now AutoZone wants near 175 without tax!!. COSTCO Is the way to go, i saw them for 125.
What discounts did you get to get it down that low?
