Re: Roush "Ford-in-a-Ford" powertrain package
Not a bad combonation. It seems a little light on hp though for what I think is 511 cubes. My 431 is right at 500 and a lot smaller and a lot cheaper.
Be super cool to own a Roush set up though...or even to just be able to afford it.

OK, the idea is great, so I guess I'm just a snob at heart. After carrying the FE/Galaxie banner for all these years - the entrance exam has been lower way below 'jock' down to 'dufuss (with a credit card)' level.
Time to put on brave smile and get ready for the new neighbors. I just hope they know enough to park in front of their own house.

Re: Roush "Ford-in-a-Ford" powertrain package
I actually had a chance to talk to the Project Manager at Roush on this. I ran into him at the Ford Engineering car show this year. I took my car and they were showing off a '67 mustang done up as well. It's a great idea....but i doubt they will be giving me one for my budget...
I used to work right down the road from these guys and hope to go see this gal in person soon! ....the car was originally champagne...like what mine was....do you think i inspired them to go with black?

Too bad it wasn't red! LOL I just wonder how many of these will actually sell with the price tag? Who knows, with the mix of Ford and "brand X" it might be the first before the big merger of the big 3. LOL

Sorry Deb, My mistake - the 4R100 is in fact a Ford transmission. It is an updated version of the E4OD. There was a tickle in the back of my brain that had me questioning whether it was ore wasn't, so I had to run it down to be sure I was not giving out untrue info.
Still, it as the E4OD is huge, compared to a C-6 which is pretty heafty. I think it deserves a look, if for no other reason than to see if they can fit it first in a passenger car instead of a 250/350 truck with out having to cut the floor pan nearly in half. Second, how the heck they adapt it to FE's, 460's. They have deeper pockets than most home grown resto-modder,... less see if they can get the parts and prices down to a level that will help us all.
I still don't like the idea of instant Hot rods. It jus 't'aint natural.

Re: Roush "Ford-in-a-Ford" powertrain package
I don't know much about the dif transmissions. But most want someting beefier than the stock and usually go to the C6 but if this 4R100 is even more so and is more modern I can see people going for it instead if they can fit it in there.
63galaxiexl needs to get down there and investigate for us so we get a more "honest" for lack of a better word, opinion on it. Sometimes advertising leaves out some of the intricacies (sp) of the job at hand and the buyer only learns as they dive into the project what snags might come along.
Shoot beo, you need a weekender vacation don't ya? Get down/over there and find out what the heck is going on and what it took to accomplish it.

How does the saying go, once you go black you never..... :^)
