Re: Is my Gal rare??
I can't say how rare it is, but know a friend had a 1964 so equipped back more than about ten years ago. Was bronze in color and he got it from someone in Phoenix.
I can remember that in order to sell it, he had to fix the turn signals. He went to local Ford dealership to get another switch. Found there that they ONLY had the version with swinging wheel in stock, not the standard version. It was rather expensive too as I remember. Found out later it has longer wires is major difference.
Sold it for $1000, which was double the price he paid for it. He was happy then.

Re: Is my Gal rare??
Hold on now, at NO! point was I meaning that I was mad, OR was I trying to get her mad!! I was using that quote from the movie MR MOM, just showing that I was as clueless as he was! Why would I tick off someone who has a wealth of info!! I re added up everything my car had to show that "I" was wrong! and she was right! Like I wrote that I never found out my answer before elswhere, thats why I asked, knowing that there are people that know about these cars....I know that Shotrod is a wealth of info, and I always thank the forum[check my other posts!] A thousand pardons to Shotrod if it was taken the wrong way! I love my car just as much as she does! If my car got t-boned like her's did, I would be crushed!! Yet she drives it proudly! I just pray that I that never happens to mine. Like her I would not abandon it for another car! I have had mine for going on 15 years now, selling a newer car by twenty years for it! So one more time,I mean no harm! She is the best!! Thanks again.

Re: Is my Gal rare??
Here's an example of why I love my car. A coworker of mine if very good at fixing up stuff, I showed a picture of this 1954 chevy that was by one of my stops that I have seen for many years. He just fell in love with it! I went back to get the number off it and take this picture with my digital. Not only do I get the number and the picture, but the owner comes out to really show me the car.The body was pretty solid for a 50yr old car,and the inside was great with a tuck and roll job by the owner{wouldn't know it by rest of the house or what was in the driveway!} Well he tells me the $2500 price is now $1500! he always started it and a charger on the battery. I give my buddy all I know and saw,he is droolling! He gets it for $1300,and drives it home about 40 miles!! [I still can't believe he made it!] Now I could have kept it for myself, but he"s chevy and im FORD, BUT the best part of this tale is he sells the 1929 hot rod [thats not a ford it's an Essex] Because he liked my car with the big car ride. He will make a ratrod, have much less in it that I allready have in mine.but as someone else told me, thats the best part, when someone else owns them! I LOVE MY CAR!! p.s. I will post the after shots of his car.

I guess more needed the regular version. I discovered the wire difference when I thought my signal switch was bad and I had a "normal" switch around. Now I know that if ever needed i can use the regular one and just need to extend the wire about 5 inches. I was told the regular wouldn't work but like you said it's the same just difference in lengths of wire.

See what you did DH! LOL Who's the trouble maker now?
Von Zipper, wasn't upset and I did recognize the quote believe it or not. Gotta watch that deadhorse character, he pulls a fast one on us now and then the little sneak!

I don't think I've ever seen that option. But I don't look at '65s much or that closely I should say. Shoot when there's a bunch of Fords I don't spend much time on any of them to notice the small details!
I actually noticed for some odd reason that FE's '64 doesn't have the little brake light on the lower dash that lights up when the brake is on and mine does. Maybe that was some kind of option or something. I thought they all had it. Who knows with Ford, I think sometimes that what was put in the car if not ordered special was just what was in the box/bin on the assembly line. lol

Re: Is my Gal rare??
With the VIN you could determin how many of that model were built in that year I think. Ask Adrian Clements over here... Motor City Galaxie Club
Here's what he dug up on mine... Jerry Thomas

Re: Is my Gal rare??
Ford Galaxie 500 2-door Hardtop
63B
$2,674
206,996
Probably already know the numbers on that one.
Although it's a gm I'd like to see what the '53 became. That Essex is kinda neat also.
