Need a knob, anyone have an extra they want to sell?

Sorry Gbeeler It sliped my mind at least what's left of it I'm writing myself a note and putting it in my pocket so I don't forget. I'm in the middle of building some shelves in my new shead 10x20 where I'm going to put the bin with all of my extra parts so I know that I'll look for it tonight and I'll sign in at my house and tell you if i have the part.(Almost sure that I do). On a Good note I'm going to pick up my car from the guy who painted it in Georgia on Sunday hope to have some pictures of it and post them this week coming. Didn't do a frame off restoration like yours but hope it came out alright.

Sounds nice to me! We only did a frame off because of how bad the car was. My hardtop was a frame on and I thought it was in bad shape....until I saw what kinda shape the vert was in. I look forward to some pics of it with a new dress (paint).

I will try to get some time to take a picture of the knob key tonight. I will probably be driving around most of the night though since it will the first night of operation.

I found a knob, the set screw is messed up so you'll have to find a replacement. It's in bad shape though, has a couple little nicks where the chrome is missing on the side and it's pretty dull. Chrome cleaner though might shine it up a bit. I think my dad might of used pliars or something on it cause I know a couple of the knobs in the dash i had he couldn't figure out how to get them off so left them. Probably didn't see the set screw on there.
You're welcome to it though if you want it or wait and see if 64ragtops is in better condition.

I like it!!!!!!! it looks really good in the pictures, so if it looks better in person I bet it is really cool!!! I may even make one and keep it in my ash tray for car shows, that is really cool. Do you mind if I post about it and use your pictures on the other Galaxie forum???

I have no problem with you using the pictures. I used a marker to mark what I wanted to cut off of the key. The cuts were made with an air cut off tool. I then filled the center with Quik Apoxy and tightened the screw to help hold it while the apoxy dried. I really like it. Dad got in the car yesterday and couldn't find the key. I was laughing.

Bad news on the car though. Something is leaking on the rear header tube on the drivers side and smoking horribly. I have no idea what it is since I don't have small mirror to squeeze back there. The damn car was running 180 consistently until we got about 8 blocks from home and then shot to 220. Antifreeze if fine and full so thats not it. A small intermittent clunk now exists and could be the exhaust hitting some where......just when I thought I was going to be able to enjoy the car all these little things popped up.

That's a bummer! Hopefully it is just a minor thing and easy fix!

Shotrod: I'll wait to see if I can find one in good shape. I think I have a few cables laying around and if dad can take off the knob without damaging it, I may not even need one. I have so many parts laying around in so many places!! I'll look this weekend and let you know. I really liked the idea of the set scew but since the one in the vert doesn't have one and the apoxy is holding it in just fine, maybe I don't need the set screw.

Sounds good. This one I think would be better as a last resort. I don't know if it's off a wiper switch or vent cable even. I'm like you with the parts deal. I have stuff all over and no matter how hard I try I still have something that isn't in the tubs.
I'm trying to remember where I saw the piece that holds the end of the package tray in place. I know it came off the package tray vinyl and I said "I better put this in here so it doesn't get bent". Where ever that was!! LOL

I like this idea. I may do this with my 62. This will add to the already increasing modification list. Thanks for posting this.
