Fun with new springs and ball joints
I spent my weekend working on installing new ball joints and front coil springs in my 70XL and it was quite the adventure. After finally getting the new springs in place my coil spring compressor was worn out. One lower ball joint stripped the allan head screw, so I broke out the angle grinder to get than one off and the passenger side upper control arm did not seem to want give it's ball joint without a whole bunch of effort and exasperation. When I finally got the new upper ball joint in and I jacked the lower control arm up to reinstall the spindle and the car came off the lift while there was still a big gap between the spindle and ball joint. Without the weight of the engine in the car I seem to need a new spring compressor to finish this. D'Oh! i sure am learning a lot of new things with this project, that's for sure.
