Re: Breath Deeply...exhausted on my 63.5

It really must have been the weekend for exhaust work. I had my system on my 65 replaced from the mufflers back on Saturday. It no longer sounds like a beat up work truck! I'm going to ask Santa for a set of headers for Christmas and then I'll replace everything from the mufflers up and include an "X" pipe. The first photo is what I had replaced.

BTW, anyone ever used the Sanderson Shorty headers on a 390? How hard were they to install? Do the ones Crite's sells work/install any easier? I figure I'll have to have a garage do the switch as all the bolts that hold the factory manifolds in place are rusted solid and I'm guessing the heads might have to come off to drill out the holes.

thanks,
Bryan

Re: Breath Deeply...exhausted on my 63.5

The Crites headers are HUGE from an actual tubing standpoint; 2" primary tubes and a 3/5" collector. I bought a set for my '63.5 not really paying too much attention to the tubing size, and when I got them I just burst out laughing trying to visualize those hooked up to a stock 352. They're now on the shelf waiting for when I get around to a build-up 390 or 428, and I went with a set of FPA long-tube tri-y headers instead.

I'd be leery of putting the Crites headers on anything resembling a stock 390; they're really built for 427's/428's/built 390's. NICE headers though - I can't wait to build a motor to handle them!

Yeah...it's growing on me; it is a real solid job for sure.
