Lightbulb Galaxie seat question

Does anyone know if the seat brackets from a 69 or 70 Gal bench seat will work on the bucket seats that came in the XL? I'm looking at a set but the tracks are so rusted that I can't tell if they're similar or not.

Re: Galaxie seat question

I think I got you correctly, you are talking about the base that mounts to the floor?
Are you thinking of cutting the middle section out of the bench seat base to adapt to the buckets?

You would probably have to do a lot of fabbing to get the adjusters set up unless you are just going to have the seats stationary.

Not sure if the galaxie has a knob on both ends of a bench to adjust forward and back or not but you'd still have to set it up so that the adjuster only goes to the other side of a bucket base after you had the bases cut to the right size.

Or do I have this all confused on what you are asking?

Re: Galaxie seat question

It's just the seat tracks I meant lol The ones on the buckets look to be similar to the ones on the bench seat I have that came out of the car. If they'll work, I'll just have to find another set of tracks for the other bucket. I think lol

Heck, doesn't hurt to see if it works! Like I was told once by an old car guy, don't know til you try!
It was in regards to my top, if it still would come up. It did. And who ever thought a waterbed mattress would make a great convertible top! LOL

Re: Galaxie seat question

ok here goes -- the bucket seats sit on a short platform the adjusters are streight-- the bench seat adjusters are curved-- i put a set of bench seat adjusters onto a set of 68 buckets -- had to cut rivits and use just the platforms -- never did like them so i recovered the bench and put it back in-- bench looks better unless you doing a full console--

Re: Galaxie seat question

Deadhorse, that would be great! Yes, I have the full console in there, so the bench got yanked out lol. The set of buckets I'm looking at..the seat tracks are pretty well rusted away, so I'm hoping to find something that will work.
