Bumble beeeeee bzzzzz

When you did your seat covers what did you use in place of the jute or twisted paper stuff that is in the cloth around the sides that the hog rings go through?
Would some kind of nylon rope work do you think?

Are you talking about the trim thats about 3/16" diameter? I don't see why nylon or cotton rope wouldn't work and would probably be stronger so you could pull harder to get a better, snug fit.

Re: Bumble beeeeee bzzzzz

deb look at your seats -there should be a wire running along the edge thats what the hog rings go around and then thru the little holes in the seat frame-- -there should be little triangle metal tabb sticking up from the seat frame -- you pull the cover tigh and put the wire behind the tabs -- bend tabs down--

you will only use 3 or 4 hog rings right in the bottom corners--

man its hard to explain by typing --

I got a cord like jute or that twisted paper that is inside the cloth around the sides. Oh and think there used to be a string to snug up the cover before hog ringing.

If I take a piece and untwist it, it looks like paper.

It looks like this stuff that is running the length of the seat in the middle.

Hey Deb,

If I remember Dead is right... there was a wire running through it. I believe I replaced mine with coathanger or something. I dont rightly recall but the main idea is to spread the tension across the fabric so that it doesnt rip the fabric/vinyl at the hog ring stress points. Mine must have been slightly different than Deads tho as I dont remember any bend down tabs...mine was all hog rings.

Something that would work well for that Deb would be paracord...also known as 550 cord... available at your local Army/Navy store..... strong as hell doesn't stretch and lasts forever, and as a bonus..... its cheap. More than a little made it into my seats.

Re: Bumble beeeeee bzzzzz

Thanks I'll check it out. Now the seatcovers might have wire in them and gbeeler needed the wires for his seat covers maybe.
I'll know more when I go to remove mine and if there is wire i'll use a coat hanger or something as the wire is probably rusted and no good in mine.
