A 4X4 frame puller!! Sounds great! Make sure to get some video so we can all see the creative engineering and tool fabrication.

Hey mon Deb,
If you could get the IDEAL car cover, what would YOU get?

Yesterday I started hearing banging under the car and I was sitting still. Realized it was the tail pipe. Didn't do that before so something has changed. Same one as the hole is in. Probably ready to fall off as they are basically dangling from the exhaust manifolds. Must be time for baling wire.
Using baling wire will get you a 38 point reduction on the Mr. DH scale, but our own "Big Bopper" (Gary) said that if it can't be seen without getting down on one's knees then it'd be alright.

Putting donut gaskets in and tightening things up would be a waste as it would burn out in no time because of misalignment.
You need the proper brackets.

With the seat out of the car I can see the damage to the door better and see that the scuff plate is bowed up under the door. Don't know if the whole rocker is bowed up or if the door being caved caused it to push the scuff plate back as there is a big arch under the door. Eh, who knows.
And you can't get the door open?

That is nice of SMS to resend you the samples JC! Maybe you will actually get them this time.
Well, I just got back from my neighbor taking me to the Post Office and the Store, and would you believe that the SMS samples were there!

They have ALL the "Proper&Correct" stuff.

The Carpet is GORGEOUS! $49.00 a yard. They'll send me a "Pre-made Carpet Set" for $279.00 + shipping.

The Headliner material is EXACTLY like what came out of the 3.14. $39.00 a yard. They'll send me a "Pre-made Headliner for $195.00 + shipping.

The Windlace is PERFECT. $10.00 a yard. I'll have to measure to see how much I need, and how to install it.

So here is where this all stands right now. I'm going to be E-Mailing Doug Pollock, and seeing if he can sew the "ORIGINAL" vinyl tabs on the edges of the carpet. I'm going to make sure that this is the "molded" carpet, and how much it will cost to ship it, AND the Headliner AND the Windlace.

The Carpet, Headliner, and Windlace is going to come out to be about $500.00 plus shipping.

And just the material for the Seat Covers is going to cost $195.00, but it is the exact RIGHT Fabric, the exact RIGHT Vinyl, and the exact RIGHT Strapping.

Then I'll have to have someone make up the Seat Covers and rebuild the seats properly according to the 1964 Ford and Mercury Shop Manual.

It wasn't supposed to rain here til Tuesday but it started yesterday afternoon. I think the top being down caused it. But the good thing is, I faked out the birds! The just bombed my car all over the trunk yesterday. Maybe they thought I washed it but all I did was california car dust it to get the big stuff off before covering it. HAH! you evil fowl!
You know that National Geographic says that they are the descendants of the dinosaurs!

Maybe i will get to my seat cover today. The seat is part way disassembled on the living room floor. But taking it outside to mess with the cover. I have a hideabed I'm throwing out, I think the cloth like stuff they use in place of springs on them now would be a good replacement for the burlap that once was there.
Deb, look in your Shop Manual on Page 18-11. There is a picture of how the seats should be done.

You have a great day JC
It is working out that way. Now if the parts from Greg Donahue would just show up!

I have to tell you something funny... When I flew out to California on June 5, 1986, to get Ms. American, my father had it all serviced and ready to go (he was like that). He has greased her, changed the toilet paper in the Frantz Oil Cleaner, topped off the oil, checked the tire pressure, filled the gas tank, washed her, and had vacuumed the interior. She was just GORGEOUS. We went to his bank and he made me pay him $1.00 for the car, and he then signed over the title to me in front of a notary to make sure that the deal was all legal and on the up and up. And on the way back to the place, he said to me:

"I feel kind of guilty pawning this old car off onto you like this because it's probably just going to just nickle and dime you to death!"

I just have to laugh and laugh with tears in my eyes everytime I think about him saying that. I wonder what he'd think if he could see her now?

Anyway, I'm a little fatigued from shopping today and I think I'm going to go take a bit of a rest and then I'm going to work on the Defroster Funnels.

Hope you are having as nice a day as am I!

JC

4X4 frame pullers are rare to see in action.

I was going to ask if Deb had gotten her car repaired. Guess that answers my question. Where on earth did you guys find the Holly Farms race car to cut the quarter off of? Is there anything left of the car? I would love to have a piece of that. It's history...To a NASCAR nut, that is.....

Re: The Great Aluminum/Epoxy Resin Laminate Rusted Floor Fix Caper"

FE, I have a new rocker already. It's stuck in the tube still and will have to be surgically removed I believe.

JC: I have the proper hangers/brackets for the exhaust but the body of the car has been rearranged and broke one of the hangars which we welded back together but the whole alignment is thrown off because of the banana shape.

The seats I can see how they should be but they aren't going to be that way. The good thing is all will be non-visible so no point deduction if it looks ok on the outside. I had them apart a few years ago but not the seat cover part. This time I will take a picture of the man's signature on the seat hinge.

whayasay: The holly farms quarter came from a replica car in the LA area. It belonged to someone on here's uncle. I saw it at the big Ford show at Knott's berry farm and the next time I saw it was a door on ebay for sale which lead me to the quarter panel.

It had gotten rearended and rammed into another car while parked. I still kick myself for not saving the pics that were posted here of the car right after it was rearended. The only good remains of the car as far as body was the passenger door and quarter and maybe that fender. That is outer parts, the whole car was totally rust free. It is all long gone now. Poor ol thing.

JC, I don't believe, regardless of condition, that these cars are every maintenance free. I think they crave the attention and make things go bad just to make the owner give them some attention beyond wash and wax!
