Fakesnake, did you brace the door openings when you took the body off? I'm working on a 61 Sunliner and have been thinking about taking the body off to make it easier to clean up the frame and rebuild the suspension but I am afraid of tweaking the body. Also how did you lift the body?
Thanks Mike
I did not brace the door openings but the body/doors will have to be adjusted when I put it back on. The guy doing the welding work had the car sitting on a lift so he just raise the body with the lift off the frame.
I know it was posted a week ago or so about the spacers in the springs. As far back as I can remember mine has had the twist in spacers. I hear people talk about them falling out or whatever but mine have stayed in just fine.
Of course you won't have any problems with those ol things by the time you are done!
On my 61 I found that I had room for the mufflers in the space between the rear seat wells and the axle housing. I used the Flowmaster Hush-power mufflers and found that they have a different sound when moving them from the very end of the system to the middle of it. They got very loud and "rack" or pop (what ever the term is) a lot more moved from the rear.
Here are some updated pics. Body shop guy didn't do much so I took it somewhere else and had body acid dipped first. Ideally I should have finished the body before powder coating frame. Pics are of the body after being acid dipped and the frame after being powdercoated. The rear quarter panels need a lot of work. There are some old school patches I didn't know existed.

Looking better and better as you go. I can't wait to get my 4 link setup and start on it.
Are those front arms the Gearhead ones? I'm not too keen on the price and know yours sin't a 63-64, but if they come complete and are built to eliminate the concentric bolts, I just might consider them. I wanted the standard air bag setup but will go with the shockwaves if the others won't fit.
I'll live 90 miles away from Gearheads here soon so I can do my own picking up.

Can't wait to see this one come together.

Dave,
I would be careful on the Gearhead set up. They work on the 63/64 as Beeler on the board here has a set too. I think you still need that Concentric set up to make it work. They were taking 2-3 months on delivery as they don't make them themselves. nice pieces but the sway bar set up doesn't work so you would have to modify one to work. They are nice pieces but if I was to do it again I would either put on a Mustang II front clip or custom fit some aftermarket A arms.
Ugh! You're killing me. I was hoping you'd say they were the best thing since sliced bread. I've been looking at FatMan's front clip setup and it's $3800 compared to the $1400 of this stuff. Of course I get brakes, spindles and rack and pinion but the hard hit of the full cost is the pain. Not to mention the shipping of it.
The concentric setup is available from Dearborn for $340 and another place for around $210 I think. Gearheads has one too. I guess the best bet is to avoid this setup alltogether and go MII.
I guess I'll continue to look into the fatman setup. The wife isn't going to like that idea. The slow gradual cost works best with her rather than all at once.
