Cool 18 inch wheels for a 69 galaxie?

Has anyone found 18 or bigger wheels that fit for a late sixties galaxie or tbird?

Re: 18 inch wheels for a 69 galaxie?

As in, cant find wheels you like or want to sort out fitment?

I have 17s on my 68 and have no issues with them... 8" up front and 9.5" out back... 4" and 5.5" backspacing on those...

What are ya wanting to run?

Re: 18 inch wheels for a 69 galaxie?

I am really struggling with the variety of styles and options. I actually have two cars I am building and I just keep arguing with myself about what looks right. My Tbird is a 70 and best I can figure it is the same as the 69 at least to backspacing and clearance issues. I would like to see some wheels on a car just to see the look so I am hoping to see pictures folks might have.

The 69 is a bigger challenge, it is a front end clip i installed in a 49 Hudson and have worked on for many years. Am now nearly done with the whole project (wish I would have done a fatman clip with mustang II but tooooooo late) and so none of the wheels folks seem to have a way to use a picture of my car and "try" wheels on it. I would also like to find drop spindles for either car but no one seems to make them.

Re: 18 inch wheels for a 69 galaxie?

By use a picture of your car and try wheels on it do you mean see what they would just look like? Find someone who can use photoshop and they can help ya... From what I am told it isnt that hard for someone competent with the software.

As far as the 70 t-bird goes- I would imagine in 70 they still were sharing parts between the Galaxie and the T-bird...

The offset to fit your 69 front end under the Hudson body changes everything though- as in, how much wheel you can have from the hub face out and still be clear of the fender lip etc, and then backspacing aka how much wheel you can have pushed to the inside and still clear... How much to the front + how much fits in the back = how wide of an 18" wheel you can fit. Dont forget tires though- going to need to know with a tire on the wheel...

I wish I could see it in person and bring a wheel or two to see how things fit!

Bet you could post pics of your cars and someone here could "try" the wheels on them that you like if you post pics or links of the canidates.

You will have no problem with the proper back spacing. Go for it!

That looks awesome slammed down on the ground like that. The wheel and tire fill the opening nicely. What does it look like at ride height?
