390 Tripower
Hello, My name is Ross and I am a Fordaholic.......I have a 1965 F100 that has a 390 and I am looking for info/support as I change over from a 4 barrel to a tripower. I have the manifold (all cleaned and refurbished) the carbs and next step is the fuel rail. I am currently looking for a used linkage but my real delima is where to get the carbs rebuilt. Holly wont answer their phone...How hard are they to rebuild?

Re: 390 Tripower
You can buy the kits at a reasonable price. If you want to have someone rebuild it, here is a guy that does a complete rebuild but isn't cheap. He gets about $700 for all 3-

My booket (circa 1966) says that Fairlane designed intake manifolds will not fit on to full sized Fords due to cylinder head design. So you need one designed for a Galaxie. Then too they have listed a couple for that year, one for A/T and the other for a S/T (at $202.55 each).
Holley may have created the carburetors, but Ford was who sold them, and thus they get known as a Ford Carb. now. Which could be why the current Holley does not want to talk to you about them, for they did not sell them originally, Ford did.

Re: 390 Tripower
Holley Custom Shop will do them. Have not had good luck with them. But Joe Bunetic is the man.

You can do it, right? I did mine, and it wasn't that bad...you just have to take your time, read instructions, and take notes...maybe pictures. The carb cleaner solution they have these days isn't much to crow about...it's the new "light" version. Get yourself some cans of carb cleaner and a compressor, or some compressed air cans and go for it. I got three 2bbl kits from Holley.

Re: 390 Tripower
I have tried for over a month to get a hold of someone from Holly custom shop. I get in the loop and have waited for as long as 30 minutes and no one answers. Tried several different times of the day. Does anyone have a secret number or some type of special code to get a live person to answer?

I used to go (all prepared) to the swap meets at San Diego Jack Murphy stadium. Could then buy up blister packs of gaskets (enough for three engines) at about $1 per. Iff'n you know the part number. Ford used standard Holley gaskets, then bundled them and added their own part number. So, be doubtful you will then find theirs.
This way you come out with an excess of gaskets, but get going much faster and cheaper too. If you own a stapler, just put remainder of package onto the garage wall in some obvious place where you will forget to look next time.

I may have the part number from the order I placed....I'll take a look; I remember ordering it over the internet. This was maybe two years ago.

Found it...I ordered three Holley rebuild kits through Summit, # HLY-3-888. This was in July of '06, but I presume they're still available. The kits were $23.39 each. Shipping was FREE! But "Handling" was $9.95.
