64 and wheel sizes

On a 64 galaxie with drums could you run a 15x8 wheel all around? If so what backspacing would work? We've decided to keep the drums since they work fine. Looking at a torque thrust wheel in 15x8 with about a 60 series tire. Preferably the same size on front and back.

If you try a search for "wheel size" or "back spacing" you will probably find the answer as I can never remember what back spacing etc. I just know it's been discussed a lot here.

The search I've done it seems like 4-4.5 is the way to go for the 15x8's. I've been told the 4.5 is a little close to the leaf springs, and one of the members here (Fat64) recommended the 4" back spacing over the 4.5.

Yep, 4.5" is fine for the rear 15x8,s. Not sure how you,ll go on the fronts. 8" is pretty wide on the front.

F15 Falcon put some real wide fronts on his '64. I don,t remember what sort of brakes he was running though. Maybe PM him for some details?

Thanks, a buddy has a 61 starliner with 15x7 and 255/60/15 and looks pretty good. We may go that route.
