Question Speaking of dash...

Hi, i own a mercury monarch 1961, a canadian version of the monterey. Dashpad is identical as a 1961 galaxie. I had a look at a 1960 sunliner dash,
it looks identical, except it's all steel, where mine is padded. Does anyone knows if this is a direct fit or did the swap ? i ask because i have located one but it's a 6 hours drive back and fourth and i don't wanna go there and be disapointed if it doesn't fit. So, anyone here can help ???

Thanks,

Syl

Re: Speaking of dash...

I believe that the padded dash was a safety option. I also think that the galaxie and the merc dashes are interchangeable. Try and research some internet photos to get some more info.

Re: Speaking of dash...

One of my 61 Starliners came with a padded dash so I know they were available but I have no clue about a 60 dash?

Re: Speaking of dash...

Hi,
thank you for the reply guys,
i'll go get it and try to make it fit, which in this case is the best next option.
maybe the padded dashpad was an option in 1960 , and became standard equipment , 1962 and on ? of course there is a safety issue with all metal ''dashpad'' maybe it became mandatory at some point?

Thnx,

Syl

Re: Speaking of dash...

Depending on the model, padded dashes were either an option or standard on 62s
