G'Day Kriscolson

Re: repost on 63 motor identity more numbers

The last thread seemed to point toward the motor being a 390 p i, by block number. The 289 should look much smaller than the fe motors right? Still trying to figure the car out. I did not see a p on the back of the block at the bottom, if I'm looking in the correct place, when I was looking around. All input is helpful. Thanks, Kris

Is there a surge tank with radiator cap or is cap on the radiator?

Re: repost on 63 motor identity more numbers

There is a rectangular surge tank mounted above and left of center of the radiator. Im fairly sure there is a cap on the tank and the radiator but I will check with daylight and confirm. thanks, kris

Show us some pictures Kris. They will not help overmuch but they do take a little of the guess work out.

Re: repost on 63 motor identity more numbers

Sorry for lack of posting, had to go out of town to a funeral. I still don't have pictures, but do have the head casting number. The number on the head I pulled the valve cover on is: 2H16. Does this help any? Thanks, Kris

Re: repost on 63 motor identity more numbers

Yes it does, that head is fully use able on a late 62 or early 63, but was 99% assuredly used on a 63 model year car. Dated to September 16 1962
