Re: Progress on The New 66

well I got the car cranking tonight but it started cranking when I turned the key to the on position then when I went to turn the key off the entire ignition switch fell apart on me so know I bought a new switch, dropped the switch(box broke open on me) so why would the car started cranking when I turned the key to the on position here?

Re: Progress on The New 66

Not sure about your problem, but I once had the two small wires on the solenoid reversed and that's what happened! Just something to check!

Re: Progress on The New 66

Well I replaced the ignition switch, installed a new fuel pump when to crank the car and got nothing. I went to the starter syliniod and saw that the wired that go from the syliniod to the block then along the radiatior then along side the wheel well was connected to the possitive side. IS this correct? The reason I ask is because it goes to the block which would conclude some of its ground right?....Im still not getting anything when I touch the 2 post on the top of the syliniod.

Tom, see my photo of the Professional Master Mechanic's wiring diagram in the next post. Better than Panavision!

Re: Progress on The New 66

It don't get easier than this... Ground the FRAME AND BODY to the battery or block also.

Re: Progress on The New 66

That's for the resistor bypass. Usually a brown wire.
