Re: Noob with a 67 LTD tudor

Very nice looking LTD, much better looking then mine.

It's probably already sitting about 2" down from in in the back from where my first '67 sat after I put wagon springs and overload shocks in back. I know Eaton Detroit springs sells lowered springs, they are not cheap but they are supposed to be a good product. All you are going to get from the local parts stores is stock springs, which you could cut a coil out of. I have no experience with that though, so I'll let someone who has tried chime in on that.

Mine is lowered, but it's going back up to stock ride height.

Talking Re: Noob with a 67 LTD tudor

thanks!
really, wagon springs?! from the 80's? i put a pair of ford crown victoria wagon springs on my 85 vic. the springs looked small but actually raised it. the 85 has a mean ass look to it.

another question: i plan on getting rid of the 289 engine and replacing it with a 351 4bbl windsor engine. preferably one from a truck engine, as in high torque down low - 351W, towing/RV cam, long intake runners, small carb, not too large and properly steppe-down exhaust (longtube headers if possible, 2.5" off the headers/manifolds, into a single 3" to the muffler, then a single 2.5 tail over the axle and out the rear), lots of initial advance but not too much total.

is this doable?! if so great if not what would you guys recommend.

Re: Noob with a 67 LTD tudor

Welcome to the forum Leo! I just got through talking to a new neighbor one street over with the same car but without the vinyl top. I wrote down the addy for here and told him come on over. His also has a 289.

You came to the right place for info on just about anything!

Re: Noob with a 67 LTD tudor

Leo, there was a '67 Galaxie Station wagon (three trim/option versions actually).

Those were the springs I used on the rear of my '67 back in the late 90's. It had the original springs on it and needed a lift. I'll probably be putting the same in springs and shocks on the back of the LTD this winter along with replacing the fronts with stock BB springs.
