Hey mon Deb,
Every-once-in-a-while I'll buy a LOTTO ticket. You just never know. You can't win if you don't play the game. And on the night of the drawing, just before going to sleep, I contemplate all the things that could be done with the money. It's cheap entertainment and costs only a buck.

Just got the tracking number and it's supposed to be here on Monday.
The kit is supposed to have two Wool thingies (what are they called?). Wonder where to get more though? Maybe Lowe's?
Hope it does what I want it to do.

Hey Mr. 64RT,
I couldn't imagine that 3M wouldn't make something for that application.

I never did a bow headliner but did many of the newer types the 3m adhesive will work great on the insulation you spray it on the roof and on the insulation wait till it gets tacky and put it together once it's together you won't be able to move it.
|
The concern is: Will it stand up to the heat coming through the Roof?
Will check out the 3M 90 Spray Adhesive. They might have it at the NAPA here.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Hey Gary,
I'll see if NAPA here has it.
Since I'd have to uncover Ms. American to work on her, and since it could rain at any moment, I decided to instead start working on Lorrie Van Haul's Braking System. It will be a leisurely task.
The Master Cylinder has to come out so that it can either be rebuilt, or replaced. I'd rather rebuild it, as it has been with her for forty-two years, and has worked fine. All it needs is to be honed, and NEW Cups installed.
Anyway, started taking the assembly apart. And some of the Nuts and Bolts are hard to get to budge, so they are soaking in AeroKroil.
I DID get two bolts out, and one of the Brake Line Connectors loosened. Took it out, and then lightly threaded it back into it's threads with my fingers.
Got the Brake Pedal Travel Limiter Bracket removed as it was blocking access to some of the Nuts.
Will have to take the assembly loose from the Pedal which is attached to the frame, and once the Master Cylinder is loose from the Pedal AND both of the Brake Lines, the MasterCylinder and its Mounting Bracket will come out as a unit which can then be disassembled on the bench.
"What," you might ask, "has this to do with Galaxies?"
Well, as you may or may not know, Lorrie Van Haul is Ms. American's Chase Truck. If Ms. American ever attains "Trailer Queen" status, it will be Lorrie that will be towing the trailer.
Also, the Battery that just came out of Ms. American is going to go into Lorrie.
Once the Master Cylinder is rebuilt/replaced, then comes the rebuilding/replacing of the four Slave Cylinders.
And once THAT is finished, we'll install the one-barrel Holley Carburetor with the Micro-Tonsil in it's throat, and see if we can get Lorrie up and running.
She's going to need new Wheels and Tires. And there's probably some other stuff that needs attention, but all that will come to light in due time.
Isn't this FUN?
JC

You can get new pads at lowes i think and at auto parts places also. Mine had foam pads and now they are dead and have to find more cause i've tried the wool, microfiber and the terry and don't like any of them like i do the foam rubberish type. But of course i need 9" and will have to find them online.

Hey mon Deb,
The unit that I'm getting is a 7", variable speed.
http://www.overstock.com/Auto-Parts/...Speed-Polisher/3132754/product.html?cid=123620&fp=F&ci_src=14110944&ci_sk u=11258293
I don't even know if this link will work, but if it does, THAT'S the Polisher that should be here Monday. If it doesn't work, one will just have to Copy&Paste it into a Browser.
Will probably get the pads of ALL the different materials to see which one works best.

JC, you sir a trailblazer for me as you go into great detail in getting Ms American back into shape and on the road. Your posts are proving to be a valuable resource, the comments and suggestions by the various members on the forum have also helped guide me in my 62 Q Code project. As I have mentioned in a post on 62 Q, my project is a refurbishment and not a restoration by any stretch of the imagination.
Keep up the great work on your rare car and keep the posts coming.
Regards,

Hey Mr. F4V429,
Actually, Lorrie Van Haul is an USPS Mail Delivery Van with the Steering Wheel on the Right Side so that the driver can stick mail into a mail box without getting out of his seat.
That the reason for the name: Lorrie (which is an English truck with right hand steering. Then of course, it is a "Van", and she "Hauls". Thus the name "Lorrie Van Haul".

"J/K"?
LVH and I have been together since April of 1975. She and I have been around (from Eugene, Oregon to New Orleans, Louisana) more than Ms. American 3.14159 and I have. She was my equipment truck when I was on the Concert Tour Circuit with the AllisonWonderland Concert Lightshow back in the late '70s, '80s, and early '90s.
If you do a Google Search for her kind, the vehicle is listed as "Extinct". Yet I have one, and even though she has been sitting since 1995, the engine still turns, and I'll bet she will awaken from her fourteen year coma and be just fine.
Stay tuned for the latest on both LVH and MA3.14.
JC
