Brake pedal

I'm changing from std trans to automatic. Do I need to change the brake pedal or can I just remove the clutch pedal? I never really looked at it and I'm just thinking about it now.I forgot to mention that this is on a 64 Gal.

Re: Brake pedal

I am no expert, but you can probably just remove the clutch pedal and it will be alright. The brake pedal itself is wider on the automatics then on the sticks. Here is a picture to give you an idea of what the auto brake pedal looks like.

Re: Brake pedal

There are a couple on Ebay that are not bad for the Price if you want to swap the pedal assembly out:

Re: Brake pedal

When you pull the clutch pedal you will lose the pivot for the pedals. The automatic pedals have a separate pivot pin. A few weeks ago I had an entire automatic setup I would have gladly traded to you. Unfortunately they were sent to another forum member and I am awaiting his clutch assembly. I had to remove the entire dash to get the pedal assembly out. 64 may be different.

Re: Brake pedal

Pull the spring off and let the clutch sit on the floor.

Simple.

Re: Brake pedal

DO NOT CUT ITTTTTTTTT!

There are TONS of people out there trying to convert their AUTO car to STD and can't find the clutch quadrant... Maybe you can trade???

Anything but destroying it so you can go back to STD if the auto don't work out...
