Since the weather is getting colder, how are the projects going?
I am wondering how everyone's car is coming along? Mine has come to a stop due to lack of funds and medical issues that have to come first. Here is where mine is as of now. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3091676 Feel free to comment on mine and share yours.

Re: Since the weather is getting colder, how are the projects going?
crazy year here...work(29 yrs) went bankrupt- got near 100k in medical bills for wifes pacemaker 6 months before(thought insurance had taken care of long ago), trying to keep what machinery we still run with zero budget(literally saved old class 7 spindle bearings from old rebuilds over the years maintenance had thrown away- both our big mills went down the same week for bearings- got 6 weeks out of one set of trashcan bearings, the other sets still running 3 months later...not meant to be cleaned/regreased/mismatched- but at 3500.00 a set, you do what you can...) had to replace a big old oilgear pump on a vertical broach after they put used oil in it and wiped out the pintle bearings- luckily had a spare(those pumps are over 20k) etc, etc...
were FINALLY getting back to work, bankruptcys supposed to clear soon, insurance supposed to get paid getting the bill collectors off our backs thats good. Wife Kids doing great healthwise- thats great, but havent had $ to do any car stuff with at all, but didnt lose any, think still have somewhat a credit rating, thats good...
on projects- moneys been tight, so doing 'freebie' stuff...hacked a couple feet out of the old windstar rockers, welded some metal back in- aint even going to fill/paint, just etched/brushed on some por15 black- should keep structurally sound/safe to use the OEM jack and not rot for a while- hoping for one more winter(for the third winter now). had to put some fairly heavy stuff in where the jacking points are, and tin inner/outer patches, looks ok, but aint trying to make it pretty.
Got a old gantry crane frame from the scrapheap at work- it sat out like 10 yrs, asked the boss about it- sure, take it...making a rotisserie for the mustang out of that, can return it to lifting duty when done with it...flipped/cut some stuff so with the car on it, will still roll out the doors- super heavy duty(was 3 ton rated / 15 foot tall originally) should work out even if overkill...next is the pivot mounts, then finally tearing the 69 mustang down and rolling it over for some badly needed underside work.
Also tinkering with a small vertical axis windmill- got the mast put together already, need to fab the rotating part up(already cut), see how it does...17 feet tall, on a big baseplate, shouldnt need a foundation/permit, just want to see what kind of power it can put out...if 500-750 watt, next is double the scale, add more motors(got a bunch of big PM servos to use as generator heads)...shouldnt cost much at all to put together, except for a bunch of aluminum sheet I need to order...and if it puts out OK, batteries/inverter...hauling it home will be fun...standing it up assembled is gonna be really fun... if it does work though, the fulllsize one is gonna get pricey- aint gonna happen for a long time- even if just enough power to light the garage, will be fun just to tinker with...Ive been yakkin about building this thing for like 20 years.

Re: Since the weather is getting colder, how are the projects going?
I have need to do things i haven't done and want to dos that who knows when will happen.
Found the brake fluid leak so after the first aka payday will take the wheel and drum off and see what the problem is with that. I'll think about putting the top up and tucking the sides in as it looks like sunny weather is getting pretty limited. I do have the truck to drive til January so I can hold out a bit longer on the top so i can catch those sunny days.
Still need to get the rearend but won't be doing that by myself so that can wait til whenever also. Again i have the truck so no need to drive the car like back home or something and have to worry about fuel usage. It's just great to have rear tires that turn independantly or whatever it may be called, again.
Need to figure out what to do with the old tranny. If i should chunk it or hang onto it a while longer. Need to haul off about 20 quarts of oil and tranny fluid to somewhere. Just haven't checked at the hobby shop to see how much they will take at one time as i'm sure they have recycling there.
Another thing i need to do before the top goes up for winter is get the other seat cover on which i've been procrastinating on. Need to get at least a little bit of vinyl because I needed to add on a little to my other cover so probably will this one too. Just finding the same shade white won't be too easy. Might not worry bout exact and be happy the springs aren't showing.
Most of the stuff i have is just minor junk except the brakes, got to have those!
Then maybe when the summer comes again i can get the a-frame bushings on there. Which those have been another procrastination item and the last of the front end puzzle to be done.

Re: Since the weather is getting colder, how are the projects going?
I've sold the Sunliner and are turning my efforts to my Mercury. Spending ALOT of money on needtohavestuff on EvilBay, sofar a tri setup and cast iron headers and some trims etc. The car has been in the shop for a year and the first thing to do is swapping engines and fix all the wiring, thén I'll start the sumbitch up and rev it.... Then the plan is to have it ready for next summer.

Re: Since the weather is getting colder, how are the projects going?
I have one or, at best, two days a week to work on the R-code. The garage it lives in is tiny, with a pillar in the middle and a Mustang too, so I can really only work on it when I can pull it out in the driveway. So, if it rains on my one car day, that's no car day for the week. And not much gets done over the winter--man, what I'd give for a big heated garage.
Now, speaking of projects, I wonder how DeathTouch is getting along with his Cammer....

Re: Since the weather is getting colder, how are the projects going?
I'm in the middle of an engine swap! I finally will be rid of the 223 6cly. I pulled it out on Sunday I took the bumper grill and radiator support out and pulled the 6cly and trans out and took all the wires off the inner fender walls and pressure washed the firewall and inner fender walls. I wlll wire brush some spots that has rust and scrub everything with scotch brite and comet today in prepration for painting the firewall and inner fender walls. That is if it doesn't rain it's really overcast today. Temp is in the high 50's here and it's supposed to warm up tomorrow.
