Front Coil Spring on a 1965

The 521 is to heavy for the springs that are in it. I think they are the orginal springs for the car. I was looking at the moog 8336 springs they are a little more heavier and sit at 12 inch ride height then the factory 11inch height. Has anyone ran into this problem yet and if so what springs are you running? I really don't want to put in the wrong springs and have to do it again!

Re: Front Coil Spring on a 1965

I originally had a 352 in my car and now have 466/C6 with aluminum heads and intake.
All I did was install a new set of big block springs and have had no issues in more then 25,000 miles of cross country and drag strip driving
In my opinion, the car with new springs sits high enough. I personally would not want the extra 1 '' that the springs your talking about would add to the ride height

Re: Front Coil Spring on a 1965

I have installed new Moog springs in about 20 different cars ranging from the early 60s to the 90s. The Moog springs seem to always make the cars sit a little higher than stock springs. Since your car shares the same basic front suspension from 65 to at least the early 70s, I would find a car with a similar engine like Shftthis suggested.

Because the OP stated this:

" I was looking at the moog 8336 springs they are a little more heavier and sit at 12 inch ride height then the factory 11inch height. "

I understood that to mean that the Moog springs would make the car sit 1 inch higher (12 inches) then (new) factory springs, 11 inches high

65460 what headers are you running? I'm running maddog header that go under the k member I have about an 1.5 of clearance from the ground, that's why I was thinking of raising it up a little.

Re: Front Coil Spring on a 1965

i used the 69 mercury colony park station wagon springs with a 429 & a/c and use the Crites headers that have the 4 front pipes going uder the k-member and they hit the ground even after i put custom valved stock car shocks on so i completely reworked the headers and routed the 4 front pipes back over the k-member like Hooker headers does with the 390-428 headers for the 65-68 Galaxie. the crites headers are a very poor cheap design and i will never buy them again.
