Re: 63,,63.5,,or 64 ?

If the VIN says '63, then it's a '63, even though it might have been sold in '64, thus the title.
If it's a '63 1/2, then it should be a fastback.

Re: 63,,63.5,,or 64 ?

Yep - should be easy to tell.

a) The 63s have the "formal" roofline from the T-birds; very "square" looking rear lines.
b) The 63.5s have the "fastback" or sportsroof (or whatever Ford called it) roofline.
c) Both 63 versions has the hood release in the middle of the grille as the emblem (one of my favorite features of my car - I love that!). 64's have scallops in the grille and no "floating emblem/hood release"
d) The 63's also had a black-gauge instrument panel and the ignition switch to the left of the steering wheel, and in 64, they had silver gauge faces, and I believe moved the ignition switch to the more "traditional" right-hand side of the steering wheel.
e) The interior door panels/seat upholstery is different from 63 to 64.
f) The 63's had larger (I think) taillights, and more pronounced bulges in the fender. The 64's moved the taillights into the fender and had a flatter trunk panel.
g) The 64's have the "arrow" trim on the front fender. 63's do not.

As was said previously, pictures tell a thousand words...

Re: 63,,63.5,,or 64 ?

If you are like me and haven't figured out the photo posting thing just look at the other post on here? Right now there is a post that shows a 63 for sale and a number of posts that show 63's either as an avatar or in the post.

Just look around.

Scott...

Jeff needs to qualify the statement. For there were numerous FOUR door models made in 1963 and they did not have the sloping rear window.

I have not ready anything here which suggests how many doors on the auto yet.

Re: 63,,63.5,,or 64 ?

That's what i say, google or ebay and look a the pics. Would be easy to tell from those pics. Or post a pic of yours here.

He has posted on Rod Shops progress thread for his '64 and there are several '64 pics in sigs such as gbics for one so that should tell him if a '64 or not.

Re: 63,,63.5,,or 64 ?

For any people who don't know how to tell one year Galaxie from another, take a look at the rear tail lights.
They all have a date on them.
My '63 has "63AFD" and my '70 has "70FD" on them.
Look carefully, because they all have a date mark.
