I went out and ran my very first legal 1/4 mile run on our local strip last night. What a hoot!! Course I now have a new respect for 14 second cars cuz I was nowhere near that time!! I made 3 runs, with my 3rd run being the best for the night. I'm guessin the car weighs around 3500.

Someone PLEASE tell me this isnt bad for a 140k mile 351c 2v with 2.73 gears. Im Thinkin I REALLY need to get some 3.50s. I was runnin through the traps at the end still pullin 2nd gear!!

I would say thats not too bad for that many miles on the engine and only a two barrel.But I would suggest to you that you need to really work on your reaction times.A 1.3 whatever is really slow.I dont know if it was your first time at the strip but I was really nervous the first time. Another thing was your 60' time.Were you spinning the tires?
Any way even a bad day at the strip is better than a good day at work.

I almost forgot those gears will really help out too.
I just went from 3.25 open rear to 3.89 posi and I see and feel a big diff.

Well it wasnt a standard tree. This is setup so it is similar to a street race. What they are doin is makin the rules really simple, no tech inspection, and running with no tree, just a green in an effort to get the street racers there instead of on the streets. They dont even show the ET on the boards if you dont want them too. As to the 60' if I left at anymore more than about 2000 I had massively horrible wheelhop. I think new springs are in order, along with some traction bars.

All in all I had a blast, and will be goin back again in two weeks. I've got some better gears at my shop, gonna check and see if the spline counts are the same, and hopefully I can shave a few tenths. My buddy said he had an extra set of slappers I could borrow too. Sweet Jesus, I think Im hooked!

I suggest that you start staging the car at the 60ft. line. Should bring that reaction time down a bit.[img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif[/img] Just kidding.
