Mystery Part Trivia 2, what brands both used this same part?

Let's take another shot in the dark....side rear engine vent for a VW Bus? Or maybe of a Fargo?

We have a winner!!!!!!!

Greg Cook has the right answer.

It was used on the Ford Super-Duty trucks as a air intake for the engine. It was placed on the right side on the trucks hood with the opening facing backwords.

On the Pontiac Super-Duty cars it was placed in the middle of the hood facing forward, same exact part just different mounting methods.

I have some more trivia parts I will post in the future.

Here is that same scoop on a Pontiac Super-Duty.

They did not use the front "grate" piece on the Pontiac app.

I will try to find a picture of the Ford truck app.

I can't say for sure, but that looks like a restored car. That scoop just doesn't look right. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing Pontiacs with the "grate" in place.

Hey Greg, now that I think about it your right.

I just did a seach on the net to see what pictures of Super-Duty drag cars were there and that one was the first one I found that had a close shot of the scoop.

Then after you mentioned the missing grate I did some more looking in my pictures and mags I have here.

I found that almost all the Pontiac Super-Dutys I have pictures of here have the grates on the scoop. The only one I found that did not have the grate was this same car that is pictures here with no grate?

I'm thinking that the guy might have removed the grate when the car was new and what ever car is in this picture here (real-fake) is just like the car was in the picture I have of it back when it was new.

So,it looks like the Super-Dutys did use the Ford factory grate on the scoop in thier app. also?

Here is a picture I took of a Super-Duty from last year at the local drag strip.

As you can plainly see the grate is on there.

You have a sharp eye Greg!

You mentioned it earlier and that is what the chrome script looks like right by the guy's head.
