First Trip down the Strip

Last weekend was my first time drag racing on a strip. It was a lot of fun. It was funny, I was waiting in line, and I hear next to me "Hey Matt, your insurance agent is watching!" My insuanace agent was sitting in the line right next to me! [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img][img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img] He thinks I still have my old 302 and when he heard the build Cleveland fire up, I am expecting a phone call! [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif[/img] Anyway, my first run was my best (only took 2, it was soo hot it was not really worth sticking around in long pants) Ran a 10.28 in the 1/8. Almost took a late 90's corvette. Launched at idle, no tire spin. Had him at the line, then he took me at the end. Second run I Power braked it to around 2700, launched with tire spin and kept spinning more than half way down the track. It was a crowd pleaser, but the time sucked. And this is with brand new tires and 3:00 gears! Anyway, I bet with a new carb (has 625 now) some better gears and a set of street slicks, I will be in the low 9's to maybe high 8's. Not to shabby for a daily driver! [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] Sorry for the drag on, I just had a lot of fun. I just wish there was a strip that was open more than once a year in my area [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif[/img]

Man, I remember my first... Glad you had fun.
Too bad you don't have one close, I went every week for 15 years... You ever think of a all day drive to race & stay the night someplace like Sacramento RP?
