Street Racing...
Friend of mine sent this link to me, and its why I agree with you guys when you say take it to the track, what happens out there is horrifying, and there isnt a reason for it, these kids can go out and have ten times as much fun on a track, but they still go on the street....

Street Racing...
The cause is "these kids", orginized street racing has been going on for 40 years. Only in the past few years have these retards gotten a hold of mom's civic, thrown a body kit on it and then there speed racer. It really is a let down.

Street Racing...
I wonder if a united front would work--I mean, if each one of us, personally, avoided the temptation of blowing someone's doors off at a changing traffic light, I wonder what would happen.
It's pretty weird to read this thread on this forum, but to also read "hero tales" of beating someone at a light on another thread here. I'm just playing devils' advocate, but we're quick to judge 'ricers' while justifying our own street racing. I'm not singleing anyone out here, but some posters here boast about street victories, and others congratulate them. Few people step up and say "hey, moron, why are you racing on a public street?", myself included.
Pot, meet kettle.
Yeah, I know that most of the street racing accidents you hear about are involving teenagers and imports, but that doesn't exclude any of us 'more seasoned' gents driving Detroit iron. Accidents can happen to anyone. I don't know what the stats in your respective areas are, but here in BC it does seem like most of the street race accidents involve Japanese and German pocket rockets. BUT, there's a totalled--no, exploded--89 Mustang GT on display at my local vehicle inspection station, destroyed while racing.
I guess what I'm saying is that maybe it's time to lead by example. I'm sure that most of you don't street race, and that some do. I'm also sure that those who do can list 10,000 reasons why they can handle it while a 'ricer' or a 'kid' can't.
But what if you had a personal policy of NEVER street racing--no 'exhibition speed', no broken traction, no nothing. So what if some doofus in an IROC or an Eclipse feels he has to justify his masculinity at a light--let the baby have his bottle.
Maybe by refusing an opportunity for someone else to show his car off compared to yours, you'll tacitly be forcing him to look at track racing options--if nobody will race him on the street....
Basically, I figure that when I'm on the road, I reserve the right to NOT be killed or injured by someone driving irresponsibility, regardless of who they are or what they drive.
Just my $0.02

Street Racing...
The thread on street racing has gone through FM for many months and personally, I have and will continue to report and sometimes apprehend culprits of this dangerous practice. There are so many clubs out there who sponsor sanctioned drag racing for theses individuals to show off their power and "driving abbility". I have personal first hand experience on the results on street racing, having lost friends because of these drivers wanting to show that they have the skills ofa professional. I also take a personal responsibility to the influx of street racers due to the fact that I am in the film industry and the idea comes from 98% of movies made for the young.
Now, if this seems a little harsh, I apologies as I am currently on some wild medication because of my injury and am feeling a lil stonedbut it is us who can help by our own experienceses and our wisdom.
Ibn the past, prior to my entering this business, I use to drive towtrucks for a number of companies, owning 3 of my own, and the sites some timescan make you loose your appetite, along with a lil sanity. Upon arrival to an accident scene, finding a 13 yr old girl, who was so pretty, all banged up, and scarred for the rest of her life hanging onto to what is left, upon loosing her mother, father or lil brother/sister is enough to tear your own heart out.
Over the last year, I which I have been a part of this forum, I have become acustomed to all who frequent here, and have found that you are ALL like family. To one day read that this member was killed due to a "small" fit of street reacing would tear my heart apart.
I plead with all of you, that in the event you get a challenge...be it a Chevy, Dodge, Ricer or even a Ford, to call me and talk it over. As I said, there are organizations in eac city who want to help curb this dangerous, fatal pastime.
Yes, I know that the tracks are closed in most locations now but for christ sake , along with the team mom, on her way to practice with a van load of kids, we beg you to hold your irges to show that you can be better and faster than the other guy.
If you have trouble finding a organization in your local, call me or Dyno Ton, Greg Cook ( a guru of 1/4 mile) or amy others.
Don't just think o f the mother in the mini van...think of your own families and us.
I say this again from personal experience and what I have read in local papers...please stop this street challenging, if not for you for all of us.
OK, that the end of this post. I have made some pretty good friends here at FM and I want to keep them.

Man... those are some true words. I too have seen the carnage from a tow truck in the past... it's not a pretty sight. There are people, and they know who they are, that I have literally threatened with violence if they raced someone... it only delayed the inevitable. I too am guilty of street racing in the past although streets didn't seem as crowded in the seventies, this still does not justify my actions. As always I refuse to believe people do these stupid things even WITH a local track. Someone has to step up & take some responsibility someday. It's just a shame that the innocent must pay the price of the few people that don't care about being safe.

Street Racing...
I have taken a seriuos pounding on 2 different forums lately by objecting to posts about street racing.
The excuse was "its just stories from my past", that may be true but when the senior members of any forum condone street racing the younger members see it as acceptable and are more likly to do it.
The older more respected members of internet forums have to be careful of what they say.
If we keep preaching the dangers possibly we can have an effect and slow down street racing a bit and save some lives.
