Turbo,Blower,Nitrous or All Motor? Rank your choices!

I think we should talk about the different adders( or lack of ) that can be used to make power on engines.

What do you choose as your adder of choice and why?

Now,there is no wrong or right answers here so keep in mind other peoples opinions.

I like all motor big cube big block 460 Fords by far the best.

I think a 500 + cube stroker 460 with a tall single plane spider intake and Holley Dom is "pure sex" to be around.

I'm very into all sorts of engines but,the all motor big blocks are just the way I like doing it.

I guess if I hadda use a adder it would be nitrous?

I think it is the cheapest and fastest way to add that much power?

So,here is my ranking.

1. All motor
2. Nitrous
3. Blower
4. Turbo

Turbo on the bottom of the list? What? If a guy can make big numbers with all motor I am all for it. However, this usually means he can out spend me. The one I would chose for #1 is Turbo. It is the closest thing to "free" horsepower there is. You all do not need to have other big ticket items. Such as 4.11 gears. Turbos like higher gears.

If you want a smooth idle, you can even keep the stock cam and still be okay with a turbo. If you still want milage, stay out of the boost.

However, if you want to get wild get an alky kit, or race gas. Crank up the boost, add slicks then grab the transbrake and let go. I do not think you will be disappointed. If you would like some examples, the Buick guys are running 8 second cars on the street from a 4.5 Liter or less V-6.

I would say all motor would be second. If a guy can build a motor that will run well and clean house. He deserves my respect.

N20 would be third. It may be the cheapest, but if the bottle is empty, go home.

Supercharger would be my last choice. Mostly because it takes power to turn it. I think of them as inefficant turbochargers. Not trying to piss anyone off here.

So they are again.

1)Turbos
2)All Motor
3)N20
4)Superchargers

All motor with an FE.
Doing it the hard way seems to appeal to me. But I am a bracket racer so the other choices are too much trouble.

1. Turbo
2. Blower
3. All motor
4. Nitrous

1. Turbo
+ In every motorsports where they are allowed they dominate or get restictions. Soon there all over Dragracing.
Smooth idle, less cam and heads than N/A, Silent. Cost, if you make a lot your self.
- A lot of tubing.
2. Blower
+ Smooth idle, less cam and heads than N/A.
Instant boost. With Roots type, boost at all rpm:s.
- Takes power to make power.
3. All motor
+ Throttle response, Milage, PRO STOCK, Sleeper possibility, High rpm:s (sound).
- expensive parts to make a lot of power.
High rpm:s (cost).
4. Nitrous
+ Sleeper possibility
- Detonation, Blown off intakes, Empty bottles, Filling bottles, Heating bottles, Melted pistones, confusion with the NOSS crowd "do you only have one bottle?".

Boost it and Scream!

Natural...with dual 4's ...love the intake sound.
Turbo...love to hear the spool and release of pressure..most of all the look of the spectator's
N20...because you can concel it. Sneeky
Supercharged...Mainly because of the sound.

All in all they all are great and the result all ends up to be is how much money you want to spend to go fast.

#1 All Motor, spendy? Maybe, but really speaks for the ability of the builder.
#2 Turbo, No contest with any other power adder.
#3 Supercharger Mostly cuz of the retro hot rod look
#4 NOS, Sorry, this would be cool cept all them lil boneheads in imports really ruined the cool factor associated with NOS

NITROUS & PROPANE INJECTION at the same time!!!!

Big torque curve easy on motor but not cheap. Seen a dyno from a viper that had a port polish job and it hit over 700lbs of torque from 3500-7000 everything stock.

Hum? I thought this could be a pretty good topic to have here.

I see the opinions vary quite a bit and there are some good points being made as why you guys picked that adder.

I still think for me nitrous would be the choice though. I just like the fact that for very little cash outlay and a few hours of install time you can add so much power.

Keep the responses coming!

All motor. Nuthin' else...Turbo's are for "ricers" and nitrous is fer cheaters... ok, ok, superchargers, but only if it's got an enderle bug catcher on top of it...

Motor
Nitrous
Turbo
Belt-driven blower
All motor because anyone can make power with a power adder.
Nitrous because it's simple & easy to remove, plus you don't HAVE to use it.
Turbo because I like to see where I'm going & no power is robbed from the engine.
Belt-driven blower, looks cool, either type, PITA to plumb, just too iffy.
Bad thing is... I'm too broke to race so I'm helping some GM guys do some tuning & racing.
Took the car 100 miles away to chassis dyno it(they want it to be a secret, street racing thang). Started off at 550 HP 600 TQ,
played a little & got it to 750HP & 691 TQ... All with a crappy carb, a crappy fuel regulator, & 120 octane nitrous fuel. Figuering on 820 to 850 when we go back. Now THAT'S enough to ruin your day
