info on 68 in a 30

the subject says it all, i was doing 68 in a 30 ... although unknowingly considering that it was a rural road and the speed limit is 55mph and i happened to pass the 30mph sign without seeing it. I know i would have been speeding either way, but 68 in a 30 is worse than a 68 in a 55 any time. so to the meat n potatoes of this: what are the harshest penalties i could recieve given that i am 17, male and have no prior moving violations?
I wasnt taken to jail, but i was let go because of the no prior movin violations mentioned above, however i do have a court date march 28th and a ticket that reads " 68mph in a 30mph zone".
I am in Illinois for all here that understand the state laws and such.

Thanks for the info guys (and any of the ladies too),
Kyle

I also live in the Fine State Of Illinois. My advice would be to get an attorney or other legal aid. You will want to get this reduced at the very least and dismissed/Waived at the best. The courts here are very "Busy". The DA will plea bargain and /or "Let" you pay for a traffic course and dissmiss the charge after you have given them $100 or so. After the class and probation the charge will go away. As a young driver you don't want your Ins. rates to go up. You will have to spend money now to save some later. Also SLOW down! At least while anywhere near the MAN.

See above advice, If you go into court by yourself with a ticket for more that 2X the speed limit and 17, say bye-bye to your licence.

Get a lawyer, you'll thank yourself. Usually, if the lawyer knows the judge well, they will go over a bunch of tickets in a room, with very few specific details, and you can get away with a lot.

I was going... a speed which shall be un-named to prevent flaming, but it was FAST. Bad night, not a SINGLE SOUL in sight, so I wasnt worried about anyone but myself, and with how the night had gone, I wasnt even worried about that. CHP nailed me at the end of the bridge, and i was hauling @ss! Well, I argued the ticket down 30 mph from where it should have been, and didnt get taken to jail... got a lawyer, and the fee was only 300$ instead of 2000 like it should have been
