454 *CHEVY!* engine into a FOX Mustang???
Why not just ease up on the guy? If he wants to do it, let him. If you do not want to help, or cannot help...just dont reply. Greg Cook has had the same problem (not here) with people saying, "Why did you do that?" I believe his answer was something like, "Because it is mine, and I want to do it the way that I wanted to." ease up on the guy...sheesh!

454 *CHEVY!* engine into a FOX Mustang???
RESPONSE TO "chilly460"
The purpose should be clear to you ... it is for SPEED, mister. Annoying people? your assumption is annoying! What would YOU do with a FREE 4-bolt main propane 454 and a FREE '89 LX 4-banger.... and dont say you'd melt 'em down & make 4 hondas
Its simply economics, friend.
Unless you are going to give me this camaro you are talking about, cuz i dont see it! And why are you writing when you have nothing of use to say?!?!
And really, how foolish is it to blab, 'oh youre TRYING to annoy...' When it is an automotive question of pertinence?

I can respect any car that is built to go fast. I'd MUCH rather look over a 10 second Chevy 'sleeper' than a 100% original car show queen that never gets it's engine turned over.
If I had a FREE 454 and a FREE 4cyl mustang... and not much money to spend, I'd look into 'breeding' the two.
Only thing, since there are probably no inexpensive 'swap kits' or headers out there, it's probably not going to be as 'budget' as you'd like. Unless you're a master fabricator, it's either going to be a half a$$ job, or you're going to spend a ton of money trying to make it 'right'.
But I like the way you think.
Good Luck!

Sell the 454, remove the engine/tranny from the LX and sell it and take the proceeds and get the correct engine/tranny for the car. That's simple economics, it's amazing how math works. The prob$ you will have fitting the exhaust, tranny and cooling will not be a time or money saver regardless how "fast" an industrial truck engine is.
BTW what size truck is this in?

Another thought. Why is it that every Chevy you hear about is a 4 bolt main or a4 bolt 350 out of a Corvette? As many times as I hear that they didn't make that many Corvettes.

454 *CHEVY!* engine into a FOX Mustang???
If you really wanna go that route, it is possible. Everything from mounts to exhaust will be custom, which is $$$$$. I have no doubt that its possible, when the fox mustangs first came out people were throwing every engine imaginable in them, from SBC's to rotaries.
I'd seriously consider Chilly's idea, of sellin the 454 and the 4 cyl drive train and picking up a 460. Much easier swap with all the aftermarket support, and you should be able to pick up a running 460 on the cheap, and just do a few basic mods. Your 4 bolt 454 being from a truck probably has some very good internals, (steel crank, good rods, etc) so you should have no trouble at all finding a bowtie guy to sell it to. Also, running on propane, there should be 0 wear in the engine, so its worth even more.
Im a ford man by upbringing, but I still like muscle and classics from all sides of the battle. I have no doubt that if you did the merge, it would be fast, I just can't see anyone going through that headache when easier options are available.

one would never have to apologize for true logic
also it is not logical to lie and pretend to apologize, when one is unrepentent.
so, in the interest of logic, why dont you take more than 30 seconds next time... that way you can have your little logic, yeah?
_______
DynoTom, for a moderator, you are useless... what with all the little smilies wow how helpfull.
_______
1Bad88GT, its amazing how how math works, huh, well so amazing im sure you'll tell me what youre talking about when 67 was just asking WHAT to do, so how can you contradict a question, fool.
and his truck is i think a c-10 i hear about it from him all the time cuz its a 1980 truck and they put the 454 in light duty trucks until 1979 then stopped until 1984 or something? and the smog referee told him to go sit and spin after taking the $85 for the test.
Also what the babble are you slobbering about? corvette? who said anything about a 'vette? He said that the engine was built from scratch @ the propane conversion shop... duh
YOU TOO CAN PURCHASE HOOKED ON PHONICS & Im sure you learn to read soon! That way YOU can stop embarrassing yourself, & sound smart even when YOU ARE not!

The guy asked a question... if you can help, then post a reply. If you have nothing helpful, please do not clutter threads in the techboard.
Thanks.
