454 *CHEVY!* engine into a FOX Mustang???

67,
I've seen the swap you're thinking about quite a few times. The most common way I've seen it done is with a motor plate to mount the engine. I've seen it done with everything from block-hugger headers to custom headers for exhaust. With a small block chevy the headers from an early Chevy II works with minimal "fixing", but I wouldn't know where to start with any production BBC header that might be a close fit. I had a Caddy 500 in a '87 LX a while back that was a blast to drive! You have to understand that everybody here isn't going to like what you want to do, but it's your car. Do what you want to with it and don't feel like you have to defend it. I don't know how much power you plan to make, but if you run a TH350 tranny, the factory double hump crossmember is nearly a direct fit. Good Luck!

I like how his buddy calls himself "351w"...then pisses all over the pro-Ford guys on here
And would'nt it be funny if you went thru all that trouble to swap in this precious 4-bolt main engine, only to discover its really a 366 industrial truck motor?

I don't know, call me crazy but if he's got the time and money it sounds sorta fun to me. It's not like he's f-ing up a rare Shelby KR or something. When I was in high school our auto mechanics teacher put a 302 in an OLD toyota corolla wagon - it fit so tight we had to run the exhaust out the headlights. It ran 11s, which was a little more impressive in 1986 than it is today. Talk about a frankenstein project, but it was fun!

I would try to trade or sell off the 454 and get the 460.

1Bad88GT, its amazing how how math works, huh, well so amazing im sure you'll tell me what youre talking about when 67 was just asking WHAT to do, so how can you contradict a question, fool.
and his truck is i think a c-10 i hear about it from him all the time cuz its a 1980 truck and they put the 454 in light duty trucks until 1979 then stopped until 1984 or something? and the smog referee told him to go sit and spin after taking the $85 for the test.
Also what the babble are you slobbering about? corvette? who said anything about a 'vette? He said that the engine was built from scratch @ the propane conversion shop... duh

YOU TOO CAN PURCHASE HOOKED ON PHONICS & Im sure you learn to read soon! That way YOU can stop embarrassing yourself, & sound smart even when YOU ARE not!

Well I tried to help, but no, someone had to take it out of context, get personal and try to flame me. Ok let's go then.

This coming from somebody who has offered no advice and done absolutely nothing but bitch and whine. Want some cheese to go with that whine?

Also I don't care what you think or if you think(Personally I doubt that occurs in your brain pan, but that's subject for another discussion), I didn't ask you $hit and won't ever ask you $hit.

Ah yes Hooked On Phonics I'm surprised you can spell Phonics. Oh wait, thats why your computer has spell check isn't? I bet you forgot the rest of the Phone #, here I'll help you it's DEFG, moron.

Since you like math so much you'll like this I see you have 3 posts and not a damn one of them contains any useful information or assistance just BS and flame.

So if you want some more come on with it, because matching wits with somebody that's only half prepared isn't very challenging. Otherwise get a life, get a job and most importantly get a clue.

well putting a chevy motor in to a ford is just asking for it.you take it to the show you better now how to deal with critism.just doing this is like an invitation of ass kicking in both the chevy and ford sides.I would pay money to see somebody go to like the woodward cruise and show up with a 454 in a ford everybody would be telling you to leave and dont comeback until you've realized what ya did.

A lot of tech heavy, knowledgable people have left this site since the bullsh*t/tech ratio has gotten way out of hand. They go to a more racing, tech oriented, less volume but less BS site such as http://www.mustangsandmore.com

There's a lot of good info to be had here, but you have to wade through too much bullsh*t and people coming on here just to hear themselves type. If all you have to do is spread OPINIONS, go home. Most people don't give a sh*t whay your opinion of something happens to be. If you have something RELAVENT to add... something you KNOW to be true and applicable, by all means share. If not, quit polluting the boards with useless bandwidth.

I still like it here, but I'm pretty decent at weeding out the people who don't know what they are talking about, and staying out of too much of the BS. Another pet peeve... Guys, when answering technical questions, unless you know the answer FOR SURE, do NOT post your opinions as fact. Those 'opinions' can cost people a lot of money.

Keep the useless bullsh*t in the garage. It was conceived for that purpose. This is the TECH forum. If the guy wanted your opinions he would have asked for them there. To a guy doing something his OWN way... other peoples' opinions are like noses... everybody has em' and they all blow!

my $0.02

Somebody PLEASE lock this thread.
