I'm sorry, but anyone who isn't incensed and disgusted at the mere mention of a brand-X engine in a Mustang is NOT a Ford guy...no way!

I ain't laughed this hard in ages. I think you should build the truck &amp; sell the Mustang. If you want a 5.0 V8; buy one that came that way. If you need finances for the 454; you now have 'em. I'd seriously consider how much you will be able to do yourself and\or how many friends you have to help that may become "x" friends! Best of luck to 'ya !

what ever..... u can get a 460 for so cheap. u could sell the 454 and buy a 460. i bought '70 460 and tranny for 125bucks. poeple take about its cheap cuz the 454 was free.i think its all bs. parts will be expensive for the swap. its up to u though. i just dont see the piont of puttin in a chevy engine the ford...there no excuse. im putting my 460 in to a lx coupe not into a IROC Z.

HA! makes sense to put the *CHEVY* into the garage! That way the Fords are in the driveway, since you're driving them!haaha Well since this topic is permanatly in the garage, and so is my truck, i'd like to add this to the thread;
my LPG truck did a 10.2sec 1/8mi, 1.942 0-60' tonight @ Irwindale, changing to radial tires slowed me to 10.8, removing the hood &amp; cutting the AC belt got me back upward to 10.4, which must have been because of the ambiant air cooling down because i swapped back the off-road tires and 10.3! I wish i didnt have to roll thru the burn-out puddle of water. I expected the p.o.s. to do low 10's, so i'm happy! Ah well now its time to strip her down!!!

HAha-Aaaaaaa!! all i can say is that at least i was faster than most of the hondas there, yeikes

Hey Guy!!,
You seem to want to go as fast as possible as cheap as possible. (Don't we all??!!)
I seriously think that when the expense is tallied monetarily and in stress, you will find that the best solution is Staying within a line. IE sell the stang and use the proceeds to buy a body for the 454 OR sell the truck and use the proceeds to build the mustang. There is always the option of selling the mustang and keeping the 454 in the truck and building a go fast truck. Any was you put it, iy is not going to be free or even cheap unless you have many friends in the right places with the right skills.

The ejaculations of venom that I have seen on this particular thread were a bit unbecoming, but amusing in a Springerish sort of way.

I don't know which thread I find to be the worst. Is it this thread or the 'Two women what should I do??' thread. I find the other thread to be more engaging due to my fascination with psychology. The stakes seem to be lower here so one can be amused with less guilt.

I find the fordmuscle forums to be wonderful. If one has no BS tolerance then one has no tolerance for life.

351w - It is noble to try to defend a friend, but not in such a way that it harms his cause. There are ways of rebuffing that do not involve hurtfulness for it's own sake.

Those who ribbed him..ribbing is fine. I would expect that due to the nature of the question. Those who were vicious, unless you were responding to some of 351w's posts, the mean spiritedness was uncalled for.

Who is the moderator for the Garage? Ya may have let it go a wee bit far. Then again, voices of reason do finally step up. So maybe the forum CAN self govern....

Greg and the other regulars that I see on this forum, Thank You. Without you guys, this forum would be almost worthless.

If those non-us made cast cranks for ford can take over 500hp with out cracking don’t you think a cast Chevy crank could take more? Think about it. Secondly rectangle and oval port big block Chevy factory casting are able to make well over 500 or 600hp that’s a fact. The ports are not too large and very different from 4bbl Cleveland heads. I say go for it you’ll be way ahead of the 460. You already have the forged crank and 4 bold mains. Ever price a forged 460 cranks or block with 4 bolt mains? Go for it and good luck
