Check out what this Mopar boy has to say!

This guy makes some interesting points, but it sounds like he's just bitter about the whole thing. Check out http://www.allpar.com/ed/2003/ford.html

I like the part where he says "if you're impressed by Ford winning LeMans with an under performing tractor engine, your name must be Edsel"
Haha, but yet I never seen a Mopar entry win the LeManns race in the 60's

Actually he has some good points to make, even though he chose to do it in a very poor manner.

Yes-Ford had parts of his vehicles made by the Dodge brothers. They did NOT engineer the vehicle, Ford did that. But Henry Ford is renowned for putting the world on wheels thanks to his efforts with assembly lines.

Yes-Ford received a medal from the Third Reich-but he was NOT the only American to receive one-several other Americans received medals between 1938-1939. There was an investigation in recent years into the Ford/Hitler links, but these were cleared up in no time at all.

If you want the real story about Ford, get the book "The Ford Century." Lots of good info in the book about Ford and the company.

BTW-Cadillac got it's start thanks to the efforts of Henry-that particular company was formed around 1901-02-the directors of the company wanted Ford to build luxury autos for the elite, while Ford wanted cars for the masses-Henry left the company and the company became known as Cadillac.

So-2 major car companies owe their success to Henry Ford!

So this guy gets pissed off by the advertising of a large company? I thought everybody knew that advertising of large companies is to be taken with a grain of salt but apparently, he hadn't figured that out yet.

Besides, he sounds like a Walter J Thomson employee himself:

"Recently, in early 2003, you may have seen the Ford TV ads showing a couple of weekend warriors pushing what appears to be the family car to the starting line of a race event which could imply a drag race. ........................... In the top two classes, Top Fuel and Funny Car, where the cars cover the standing start quarter mile in 4.5 seconds at 325 + MPH, all engines in both classes are the same automotive type engine which is the much loved and despised Chrysler Hemi which first appeared in 1951."

Anybody who actually thinks that Top Fuel engines have anything in common with a 1951 Hemi except for the number of cylinders, is probably called Edsel...

The 'deception' here is on the author's part. Just in the NASCAR part of his 'story' he shows how little he researched his subject matter. Red Byron did win the first NASCAR 'sanctioned' race in 1948 in a Flathead powered Modified....a cut down '30s coupe with aluminum heads, multiple carbs, headers, etc. Jim Roper won the first NASCAR 'Strictly Stock'(Grand National) race at the Charlotte Fairgrounds in 1949 in a completely stock Lincoln, so both answers are correct. There's more, but I'm not gonna bore y'all with it...

What an a$$...
